Exclamation you thought you were FORGETTABLE?!

Bunny, darlin, of course I remember you! And I wondered where you've been, too, but since I don't read most of the forum anymore I thought *you* were still here, and *I* was the one who was gone. lol!

I'm still in Arizona, land of the scorched, trying to keep mom's garden alive until the rains get here. I finished my careers class and was stunned that test after test told me to go not into counseling, like I expected, but into art. This summer is, I guess, my Art Summer, and I've been making bracelets and necklaces with an idea to sell them.

How have you been, hon, what's up in your world?

Cool *hopping up and down waving to Bitsie*

Bit, I'd love a test like that to tell me things. LOL Arizona is great for art. Must be the heat.

Biggest thing I've done lately is go to Hawaii for $10. Great trip! *sigh* Did lots of scuba diving. Nursing a sunburn I got HERE. What's up wit dat?

Looks like it's just you and me in the main SC thread. Glad to hear you're doing well.

    Talking laughin'

what is it you and I have about the SC thread, eh? Too funny.

::::: setting out the SC cake tray with cookies, brownies, and chocolate muffins::::: might as well make ourselves to home!

The tests I took were the Strong Campbell Interest Inventory, the Myers-Briggs Personality Type Indicator, and several tests from California which are abbreviated Cops, Cope, and Caps, about aptitudes, interests, and values (not necessarily in that order!). The scores from all five were plotted together on a chart, and where all five intersected, voila! A career direction. Since I could choose from anything, it was a relief that some things were finally ruled out by something *other* than my physical disablities, yanno?

This is a link to the Myers-Briggs.
    http://www.humanmetrics.com/cgi-win/JTypes2.asp

This is a link to interpreting it. I found it not always accurate, but it was a start, anyway. [edit: ooops, it's a different link than I thought; it's very accurate! my bad.]

Okay, Bunny, *how* did you get to go to Hawaii for $10???? <amazed look>

    Cool *grabbing a brownie*

Bit, it is funny that neither of us live in SC and here we are keeping the thread alive. My only defense is that I USED to live in SC but it's only the two of us now. LOL

*noticing Bit has adopted the JustJean strategy of making folks welcome*

Re Hawai, my brother had a conference with a paid hotel suite. My other brother donated 70,000 frequent flier miles so my ticket cost $10. I even got bumped up to first class during the Dallas/Honolulu leg. Of course, I did drop some serious dough on scuba diving but when else would I get a chance to dive in Hawaii?

I love psych tests. During college I earned extra money as a guinea pig for the psychiatry dept. They had me doing all kinds of things. The best part was trying to figure out the purpose of the experiment and skewing the results without attracting attention.

((((((((Bit))))))))) Glad to hear from ya, Hun!

    Cool Bit! Bit! Bit!

Uh, Bits, Hun? I took the first link test and scored 4 letters. Took the second link test and scored EXACTLY opposite of every single letter. Huh? I was hoping for a clear cut answer to which job I should seek. LOLOLOL

    Bunnykins!!

That's what ya get for skewing all those experiments-- now the psych world is skewing your tests! lololol! Revenge, revenge, lol!

The first one is way more accurate, as long as you answered the questions with the way you *prefer* to be. For instance, when I took it, I was having a bad time of it recovering from being dumped, and so I answered all the questions about "do you talk to strangers?" and "is it easy for you to talk to people?" etc with "no" answers. Well of course that made my test results come out skewed toward introversion. The truth is that I *prefer* talking to people, I *like* being in crowds (LOVE shopping at holiday time! What a rush!), and I'm really an extrovert. So how you answer the questions-- for the way you feel at the moment, or for the way you prefer over the long haul-- makes a big difference.

I'll bet you already know which set of answers was the right one. My letters were ENFP; I'm outgoing, flexible and spontaneous, and feelings are very important to me. And when my career teacher said "P is for procrastinator" as a joke, I blushed... cause yeah, P *is* for procrastinator, lol... I ever so tactfully avoided retaliating with "then J is for judgmental" lolol... what is those organized and focused types have against us flexible and spontaneous flibbertygibbets, anyhow? <mock wounded look>

Cool *sniffing around said goodie tray*

Ack!!! I don't remember if I answered the way I AM or the way I prefer to be for the first test. *sigh* Yes, second guessing I am. LOL I think my first test came up ENTJ and the 2nd came up ISFP. Forgive me as I didn't write down my responses. Of course, I looked at both sets of careers. There are good choices for me in both groups. So what does one choose? Hmmmm. I was torn as to which choice on some questions. It all depends on the situation for some things.

My favorite experiment for the psych dept was assembling an erector set space station. We started the time when all components were in certain places. When the set was assembled a proctor would stop the time and check the work. If anything was incorrect the time was started again until everything was perfect. Another examination before time was started again for the disassembly. We did this all afternoon with times listed for each "cycle". Pay was determined by how many correct cycles.

I figured out it was a learning curve experiment and how I could better my time depending on which proctor was due to look at my assembled space station. Some wouldn't check certain screws and therefore I could save time by not including. You had to be sneaky. I even sat on pieces when necessary. Funny thing how I was the best paid of all the guinea pigs even with long nails handling all those little pieces! They couldn't figure it out! *evil grin*

Uh, this bunny procrastinates too. I think I'm a closet perfectionist!

<giggling!> Baaaaaaaaad bunny, bad bad bunny!! lolol

Hey, don't you find your nails are useful as tools? I have way better fine motor control when I can use my nails to pick small things up and maneuver them around. They're indispensable in my beading.

So I guess a learning curve is a learning curve, and learning the proctors' styles and how to use them to your advantage was still learning, right? lol

Okay, here ya go. In general (not counting any recent illness or heartaches) do you like being around lots of people at a time (E), or do you prefer being with just a couple people/by yourself (I)?

In general, do you prefer going by your gut feelings (N), or going by the evidence of your senses (for example, how you *feel* about someone (N), or what they *say* to you and how they *act* around you )?

In general, do you like the world of data and ideas (T), or do you prefer the world of people and things (F)?

In general, are you focused and on schedule (J), or are you happy to change your plans because deadlines are just a general guideline and it doesn't matter if anyone's a little late (P)?

Hope that helps you figure it out a little better. I know what you mean about the careers. That's why it's helpful to also figure out your values. For instance, just going by my personality, I would be a crackerjack salesperson--- but selling requires manipulation and that's against my values, so I know that I don't want to do that. I also know that I value a certain amount of independence, so any job where I have to ask permission to use the restroom is out, as is any job where I can't decorate my space (however small) with personal items.

I have a hankerin' for cheesecake tonight!! <sigh>

Cool I'd wondered what the stars were... LOL

I can pick situations from both letters due to the vagueness of the explanation. However, you did narrow it down for the last question. I am able to "go with the flow" and change my plans. I'd dated a bipolar someone and my ability to change THE PLAN on a moment's notice drove her crazy when she wasn't on her meds.

I find I am a little more structured for work and not in my personal life. Therefore, I can't choose one letter over another decisively. *sigh* I like being around people but I like my personal time too.

I had to experience 2 days of psychological tests for a restaurant management job. Of course, you KNOW I tried to figure out the tests. They repeated questions to catch things like that but I managed to score VERY high... higher than my manager and regional manager. You know THAT was a problem. *giggle*

In any event, I love these tests even though I'm having trouble choosing lately. Ha! Keep the debate coming, Girl!

oh, Bunnygrrrl, I'm out here melting into a big puddle of crankiness <pout, pout> It *still* hasn't rained enough to get the ground wet under the trees-- it's just hot hot hot with little teasers of storms, lightning off in the distance. And I can't be with my sweetie, either, so I'm just all-out Cranky, yanno?

Let's talk about you instead. Okay, so you're flexible and spontaneous. Do you like work situations where you do the same thing every day? Or do you prefer to have variety in your duties? Are you happy being the one who answers the phone? Do you like talking to the customers; is it a good thing if that happens a lot during the day? Or is it better if someone else answers the phone so that you can work uninterrupted?

Remember, don't think about specific projects here-- think about your work life as a whole. And just in case you're wondering, lol, the telephone question is key. People who are extroverts usually thrive on those telephone interruptions (unless it's all angry customers!), and people who are introverts usually wish someone else--ANYone else!-- would answer the phone. People who are P (flexible, spontaneous) usually don't mind multi-tasking and handling phone calls; people who are J (focused and goal-oriented) usually need to do one thing at a time.

Ummm, N vs S (intuition vs senses)... have you ever walked into a room, felt like it had bad vibes, and gotten the heck outta there based solely on that? That's N. Have you ever met someone with a bad reputation, liked them immediately, and never had a reason to doubt them-- or, conversely, met someone with a good reputation, and found them unsettling, instantly disliked them, and later on found out you were right? That's also N.

On the other hand, have you ever been in a relationship with someone who was making you miserable, and your friends and family all said, "for heaven's sake, she's lying to you!" and you couldn't make any decisions because you didn't have *proof* in your hand, something tangible you could point to, something to prove that she was lying? That's S.

T and F... I'll have to come back later for them-- I forgot the examples. <blush>

Oh, one thing-- everyone has all 8 initials. Every E needs some I time, every I needs a dinner party now and then. What the tests are supposed to measure is your preference, your default mode, so to speak.

{{{{{{{{{{{{{{Bunny with her nails short}}}}}}}}}}}}} You're still femmie!

So, if ya just can't decide, maybe you're one of the ones who is right in the middle on all of them. It's rare, but it does happen. It's a good thing, means you're very well integrated.

How's life other than inkless? <grin> I just spent all day rearranging my room, trying to get better organized-- and of course it's MUCH worse now than it was before! It's at that "omg WHY did I think this was a good idea??" stage. Oy. I'm hoping that as I get everything into its new space, I'll come to a point where I'm happy with it.

My real hope is that I can get everything into a new space before I give out! lol

*edging away from the organizing part*

I don't envy you, Bit! I would be all full of motivation and TEAR my room/shelves/whatever apart only to lose momentum and not finish the job. I'm not so good at putting things back together. *shrug*

Now at work, I was always UBER-organized. Nothing like having a regional VP breathing down your neck for something in your files. So are we sisters or what? I put this job off all summer for precisely that fear that I would lose momentum and not finish! I'm not outta the woods yet-- couldn't do anything today, have to try tomorrow.

And I so hear you on not letting people see the private space. I lived like that for years, never able to catch up. Trying to head that off at the pass this time! It helps that there aren't any cats to jump on top of things and knock them all down.

    Smile of course Bit returns

*giving the Bunny one a big hug and a soft smile*

Yanno the biiig reorganization I decided to do, the one that involved moving furniture....

Yep, it flared up my fibromyalgia. I haven't been to the forum for *days* and last night could only get to Pagan. And while the furniture is moved, the room is so very NOT reorganized, dang it all anyway. <rueful look>

I don't know if I'm going to Vegas. I haven't got the cash for it right now and I don't know if I can come up with it. It'd be grand to meet people if I could go, that's for sure!

What else is up in my life... getting ready for a craft sale in September. It's in a nearby town, at the church my mom attends. The table rental is $5 plus an item to raffle off-- I bet next year it's WAY higher than that! If I can get enough stuff made, I'll rent a table at a later sale in the city, too. It's a test, in a way, to see if my hands can really do this kind of work again.

Hey, you'd like one of the things I do-- lil round stuffed bunnies. PM me a snail mail addy and I'll send you one. Tell me your fave colors in the PM and if I have fabric in those colors that's what I'll make it in.

My days have been bad lately with one car problem after another. First with my mom's car then mine, but hopefully all will be good in the next few days.

I am looking forward to a trip in the next couple of weeks. I am going to see a friend I met in another forum (Lesbian Worlds)

I also met someone via the net last night and she seems really sweet. I have a date with her this weekend. Hope she is good to me.

I forgot school started for the kids this past monday. Does their school have uniform policy? If my ex and I had not broke up my kids would have went to Beck and they have a uniform dress code this year.

Hope you discover an understanding of your past/ present.

You too are a good woman Jelli.
