    What did you buy today?

Can be anything from something simple you buy daily to something you've been planning to get.

    Today, a new lamp.

examples: groceries, cup of coffee, clothes, dvd's, etc.

Today it was just groceries. Yesterday was dog food, a $36 map that's going back, film, some crafty stuff from Michaels, gas and an ice cream bar and some pretty purple hangars! I think that's it. It's hard to keep track some days! And, I'm sure there will be more tomorrow, and the next day, and the next day and the next day! This is a great idea for a thread!

A pair of inanga (pounamu/ NZ greenstone) earrings.

A box of extra soft tissues infused with eucalyptus for my poor red nose (I have a cold).

30 polished stones to give the kids in my class on Friday (my last day). Worry stones they will become.

But, I came home from camping and passed out for most of the day so I didn't have the opportunity!

My partner and I decided a couple of weeks ago to move back to the UK come next Summer. Anyway, I decided, at the same time, to limit the things I buy to the 'real basics', my thinking being that there's no point in buying things we don't really need only to have to sell/ship them next year. Since I made that decision, I've come to an amazing realization, namely, that MOST of the stuff I buy - excluding food and toiletries etc. - I don't really need! No wonder I'm always tight when it comes to money....Seriously, next time you reach for your wallet, think to yourself, do I really, really need or even want this? I think you'll be surprised at what you find...

Something else, I study and teach Feng Shui (the art of placement), and one of the golden rules is that you shouldn't keep anything in your wardrobe that you haven't worn at least once in the past year, the idea being that if you haven't worn it at least once in the past year, you're unlikely to wear it at least once in the next...makes sense, huh? So, a couple of days ago I went through my own wardrobe, and by the end of the day, and basing my decision as to what I threw out on the rule mentioned above, I had three or four large bags of clothing to give away to charity, PLUS, a nice, neat, and organized wardrobe and a sense of 'space', rather than clutter. Try it, and see how much better you feel. (Incidentally, there's a theory that rich people experience a lot more stress that poorer people do, simply because the more stuff you own, the more time (and money) you spend dealing with it, which also makes sense. I'm not saying that we should stop buying things simply because we want them, as opposed to really need them, just that in many cases, we're only adding to our problems by buying things that, if we're perfectly honest about it, we don't need, and, in some cases, can't really afford.)

uh, a few days ago, when i was last in nyc:

a new chain wallet; last time i had one of those, i was 13 and lost it with $30 cash which was a rightful punishment for what i'd done with it...i was 13 and haven't had one of those wallets since.

a new portable cd player- there is no way in hell that i'm not taking one of those on the way to seattle- and hadn't had one since i was 13!

cargo shorts and rip-stop bdu army pants

a bunch of bootblack supplies to add to my box..now i just need a new bigger box to accomodate all of them, lol

    two jockstraps

    tickets for the local bus

    a vanilla bean coolatta

2 hotdogs and a pina colada smoothie

    a metrocard for the subway...

yeah, that's it until this friday when i go back into the city!
