I went to Butch Mamas! last night and I’m still there. LOVED IT!!! They are sold out for next weekend -- if you live in the area I strongly recommend you to go to the theater around 7:30 pm and see if you can get standing tickets.

I’m writing a review and there’s absolutely nothing negative to say about Butch Mamas!. KS has written relatable and believable characters. The director and cast did a great job in putting everything together and bringing the characters to life.

On a side note – going with my very own butch escort and seeing eye candy all over the place didn’t hurt. I think I’m in lust! Side note # 2 – my review is in Spanish and won’t be online till probably tomorrow night. If anyone is interested, PM and I’ll send you a link when it’s up.

Tony is a good friend of mine (and a former bandmate!). He's also a talented songwriter and painter. This foundation is a really wonderful thing and I hope that all of you can get to this exhibition or one of their other events in the near future.

(I am helping out on this project)

    Quiet Come Dawn
    www.quietcomedawn.com

QUIET COME DAWN is made possible by the generous support of Astraea Foundation & Embody Dance as well as the fiscal sponsorship of Asian Arts Initiative.

QUIET COME DAWN combines aerial dance (Corde Lisse), spoken word poetry, & theater in an interdisciplinary project conceived and created by performance artist YaliniDream and aerialist Kiebpoli Calnek.

QUIET COME DAWN presents a dynamic all women of color cast who sing, dance and fly with intensity and truth. YaliniDream’s moving piece of poetic light is powerfully realized through Kiebpoli Calnek’s aerial choreography.

QUIET COME DAWN is an eloquent piece on the power of self-love and how struggle and survival can separate one from this most fundamental and necessary bond. Quiet Come Dawn tells the queer love story of Rook and Z, lovers who are living in a post-apocalyptic world where the birds are dying and humans require drugs and magic in order to live. This destruction has wounded them both and threatens the sacredness of their love.

You won't be disappointed --- a love story, beautiful women swinging around on silk ropes (when they aren't making out with each other), amazingly brilliant music and an intimate studio space to enjoy it in. Don't miss it!

I hope everyone will attend this important and sexy event.

Cripping Femme is a new print and audio zine by and about queerly feminine folks with disabilities. Via poetry, memoir, erotica, visual art, manifestas and more, contributors explore a hot mess of intersectional identities, centralizing radical crip cultures and the voices of dis/abled femmes of color.

Cripping Femme Vol. One features provocative new work by Jeanette Beal, Dominika Bednarska, Christine Bylund, Qwo-Li Driskill, Arden Eli Hill, Richard Juang, Toby Macnutt, Leah Lakshmi Piepzna-Samarasihna, Martina Robinson, and Rebecca Stauffer-Lindsey.

Cripping Femme Zine launches in New York City with readings and performances by editor Leslie Freeman, contributors including poets Arden Eli Hill and Martina Robinson, electropop star Nicky Click, and special guest Sassafras Lowrey. Zines are $5, with proceeds to support Bluestockings.

We're working hard to make this event, and all Cripping Femme events, accessible and inclusive. Though we can't guarantee a scent-free event, we do ask that you refrain from wearing scented products to the event. Please, don't hesitate to contact us with accessibility needs, preferences, and questions (or for suggestions about scent-free cosmetics.) Email Leslie, efemmera at yahoo dot com ( efemmera@yahoo.com ).

Join Cripping Femme for an evening of sexy, edgy, and of course sparkly resistance to in/visibility, essentialization, and marginalization.

Butch Femme New York Dance 2010

Happy New Year and what are you doing April 17th??? The NY Butch Femme Society dance was awesome last year at the Long Island Venue. We had formal and friendly service by a predominately gay staff, excellent food, open bar, our usual rockin' DJ, and transportation was easy. It's well worth the cost. There is also a nearby hotel with a block of rooms reserved, breakfast meetups on Sunday morning were fun.

Information and tickets are available at http://butchfemmsociety.freeservers.com. There's a link for ticket purchase and I know payment arrangements can be made (I did it!).

I hope to see you there. My thought for the New Year is to reconnect on many levels, this being but one.

Again, a happy and healthy new year to all.

    CineKink 2010

The schedule is finally available! From the Cinekink website:

The kinky film festival is back! We've got an amazing line-up of sex-positive and kink-friendly films and videos this year, so you'll want to peruse the schedule closely in making your choices--and also be on the look-out for some exciting new party spaces!

Fortunately, helping us make sense of all this information, we've again partnered with B-Side Entertainment, who has worked with us to create a special CineKink NYC festival community. You can use B-Side to get an overview schedule of the festivities, as well as detailed information on each film/event. You can also create a personal calendar, rate and review films, forward program info on to your friends via email and Facebook, get tips from other CineKink community users on must-sees at the festival and--to ensure you don't miss out, buy your tickets and passes in advance.

If you'd like to jump right in to B-side, click here for a schedule view of the festival. Or go here for an alphabetical list of everything happening during CineKink NYC.

Go to http://www.cinekink.com/program/ for more information.

Well, after attending a few films at CineKink, I sure would love to have a cool drink at a hot bar in Brooklyn. However.... one of my favorite "non-discriminating bars" might be getting evicted! Please support Starlite Lounge!

I've been interviewed for a program called Ancient Medicine Today, here's the link and a short description written by my interviewer:
    http://www.archive.org/details/Ancie...ittoriaRepetto

February 22, 2010 : On today's show : We are going to venture into the practice of Applied Kinesiology. Here to share with us what is, as well as what it is not, is Dr.Vittoria Repetto. We'll also take a walk on the wild side and learn about an herb that makes a great wine, and treats infections. Then, Stay tuned for Glancing at the stars, with Nick Symington. Nick is live in the studio with this weeks Astrological 411.

Dr Vittoria Repetto, is a Chiropractor as well as a practitioner of Applied Kinesiology. Vittoria practices in New York City. If you would like to find out more about Applied Kinesiology as well as other cutting edge health topics, I recommend taking a look at Dr.Vittoria Repetto's blog. You will find it at
    : http://drvittoriarepetto.wordpress.com/

Applied Kinesiology is a system that evaluates: structural, chemical and mental aspects of a person's health. The combined terms applied and kinesiology describe the basis of this system, which is the use of manual muscle testing to evaluate body function through the dynamics of the musculoskeletal system.

In general, the applied Kinesiologist finds a muscle that tests weak and then attempts to determine why that muscle is not functioning properly. The practitioner will then evaluate and apply the therapy that will best eliminate the muscle weakness and help the patient. In some cases, the practitioner may test for environmental or food sensitivities by using a previously strong muscle to find what weakens it.

Treatments may involve specific joint manipulation or mobilization, various myofascial therapies, cranial techniques, meridian and acupuncture skills, clinical nutrition, dietary management, as well as counseling.

Women’s & Trans’ Poetry Jam & Open Mike
    Tuesday April 27th 7PM – 9PM

Feature Writers: Sarah Sarai & Adrienne Baldassano

Sarah Sarai’s poems are charged with the terrible presence of the now and the dangerous fact of words. This is poetry as it should be. Scary, strange, generous, intensely in a physical world while illuminating an unimaginable spiritual world. This is writing that sings. The song it sings is the song of our hearts.

Adrienne Baldassano has, all too often, found hirself caught between male and female. Through hir poetry, ze seeks to find and define a space for all those who do not fit into binary oppositions, be it male/female, up/down, or past/future.
