morning loungers Happy Friday everyone!!!!

i am off work today and back at it tomorrow on dayshift...this morning am just going to head outside and do some yardwork...trim some hedges and pull up some flagstone...getting the yard prepped to do some landscaping...going to level it and lay down some sod to increase the area for the dogs

then this afternoon am off to do some errands and pay some bills for the estate and go over to their house to pick up some storage cabinets

its supposed to be a hot humid day today so want to get the yardwork done this morning

this weekend is Art in the Park...hopefully wont be too tired from work to go

ok off to cut down some hedges with my new hedge trimmers lol

heya Energy why the layover at the airport???? will have to get everyone together for a bbq or something sometime soon

yesterday got the kitchen all put together...the hardest part was washing all the dishes from them being stored....but it is all done...today is rearranging the living room to make it the way i want it.......

good news on the schooling front...i have been excepted into the program...now have to go visit some local schools to see where i want to go and what i want to do....i am going to look at job search engines and see what jobs are listed most...also will look at hospital sites.....good thing is i live close enough to maryland that i can also look there at their hospitals and offices....

well need to get showered and get busy...talk to all soon.....

definitely on the veggie/barbeque! there were extreme winds, driving rain, and tornados in the area, so all flights in and out of DC were cancelled. so i just chilled out in the airport, ate at the restaraunts, which stayed open until 2amish, talked to other random people stuck at the airport overnight, and finally curled up with a free blanket for a few hours. my next flight left at 6am -- and believe it or not, they actually found my luggage on another airline. whoohoo! hope you are staying cool! it's a scorcher out there today.

A fab day for outdoorsy activities

Last night Cid and I went to a Buskerfest.
Wow, what a neat thing in a small town to hold. The 11th annual Busker Street Festival and of course I was feeling like a little kid watching the clowns, jugglers and fire eaters perform. A great family event and it was great to go in the evening and beat the hot sun.

I am going to put a couple fire eating pix in my gallery. That guy totally amazed us.

To all our Canucks in the GTA....I have reserved our table for the Dyke March Brunch at Cafe California.

As for weekend plans....balcony gardening....I got a fab 50 litre planter from Lee Valley ( I think they have this in NY too ) for my tomato plants. Am totally jazzed !
Tomorrow is Euro Soccer so you know where Cid will be at 2:30.....and of course sporting all the German sportwear he has in the house LOL

Anne...don't go too crazy with those hedge trimmers in this heat. And don't forget to hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!

well......we just got back from yard sailing......found some good deals.....

bought some stuff for Vons new apt......and got some x-mas presents for jake and my sissy......

Selena2003 finally bought a used bike today and she is really happy !!! She also decided to take all of Gabby's long sleeve shirts and cut the sleeves so she can wear them over the summer. My wife is so creative !!! The reality is that these shirts are pretty new and they will not fit Gabby by the time fall is here. The munchkin is growing leaps and bounds ~

Right now it is 82 F but feels like 95 !!!

When it's like this outside, I pack a cooler with ice and keep drinks cool for errands, etc.
Always need water on hand in this type of heat.

I think a trip to the lake this evening might be in the cards.

finally made it back home in one piece!!! had to spend the night last night in reagan airport in dc. the sociopoliticoeconomics of sleeping in the airport are interesting to say the least. more about that later. right now, i have one thing in mind -- sleeping in my bed. aside from the travel gliches, the trip to boston was an amazing experience. the course i took was quite impressive. and now, i must rest. first things i did after getting home were to feed the fervently meowing cats and take a long bath. oh the things we take for granted. goodnight all!

Butchlei -- you must have missed my posts (see above for one). LOL! i'm alive and have finally recuperated from my travels. not much to report -- just have been working on another presentation and another article to submit for publication. there's always work to be done. and of course catching a few ZZZZZZZZZZZs with the cats the arts festival is going on in detroit this weekend -- haven't decided if i'm going to venture out tomorrow. i'd rather spend the day with my friend who is about to move away to start her residency program.

Anne -- are you heading through the tunnel to make it to the detroit arts festival this weekend?

Von -- so happy to hear that you are moving forward with your educational plans. my only advice is to select something that you'd like to do on a daily basis, something that interests you, and go to school for it. please do keep us posted -- and happy birthday!!!!!

Well, Selena2003 had a sewing accident ... the needle passed completely through her finger when she was sewing ... she has a nice portable sewing machine with an electric pedal ...I feel so bad for her ... the pain is intense ....

Gabby has like 6 new shirts and shorts ... its almost like we bought her a new wardrobe ... i must say this is like recycling at its best

She was all excited when she started seeing all the clothes ... she thought they were new

yep on the powerpoint -- but i'm anti-reading from slides. i try to use the slides more to show graphs, pictures and movies than anything else. i'm forever opening my mouth and offerring to give talks.

well what a great day...we did the yard sailing thing this morning...and then went to a dreaded family party.......but it actually turnedout ok...my brothers actually cordial...and even hugged Von......

the nicest surprise was my niece and her lovely husband were there adn i didn't know they were going to be.....she has the lovliest children...Owen 10 and Darian who is about four i think......what a joy to be around...Owen and i hit it off so when we left the party Owen went with us to my parents.
There we had a surprise for Von cake and ice cream....for her b-day......

so all in all it was a great day...now to put my feet up and chill for the evening

nice suprise from sabra and her mom and dad....her mom and dad got me a nice pajama outfit.....has shorts which will be nice for now when i am over at sabras and the boy is home...other wise well i perfer nude sleeping....

Great question Von! I prefer the nude but it is just way too cold for that most of the year. I wear some type of slip or tank dress with a sweater or wrap when its really cold. In the hot weeks here its usually just undies (for both of us). Wonder what everyone else sleeps in....

I made about 12 of gabby's long sleeve shirts into short sleeves today and took 6 pants that are short on her, but still fit in the waist, and cropped them at the knee for shorts. I did turn away from the machine once while pulling fabric through and uh pierced my index finger on my left hand. The problem is it hurt like a muther fucker so I depressed the foot pedal harder and sucker punched my finger with the needle about 3 or 4 times until I recovered from the shock and removed my foot from the pedal.

It is NOT a portable machine..its a table top singer machine and amazingly enough the needle didn't break. Lan thinks its portable because we lug it all around the house. LOL! I feel like a total ass because my mom always warned me about getting your fingers too close. I basically tried to sew my finger to Gabbys' pants. Anyway its just a small piercing. I cleaned it up asap and wrapped it tight with a band-aid and iced the thing. It's well enough for me to type with it and only slightly misshapen. I bet you won't even be able to tell in 3 days that anything ever happend to it. Scared me to death though...glad I missed the bone and glad the needle didn't snap off. The last thing I want to do on Saturday is sit in an emergency room!

I'm up late working on my final paper (10 pages). It's nerve wracking and now I feel too wound up to go to bed, even though I am tired. I've been researching CFS and its such a creepy disease.

LMAO -- butch market -- well, considering that i've given up on the dating scene for a while, i don't think that a matchmaker can do anything for me right now. lol -- i'm just happy working on my phd and hanging out with friends (half of whom are moving away for residency i will miss them dearly).

I don't know if this happens to any of you but if I go to sleep and I wake up during my deep sleep time, I can't go back to sleep! Its very hard for me to just turn around and go back to bed ... normally I have to get up, watch TV or do something ... then I get tired ... and possibly I can put in a couple of more hours of sleep.

Von, the PJ's sound fantastic! I even doubt my in-laws KNOW when my birthday is or would even care ... you are a lucky butch for having developed such a good relationship with Sabra's parents.

Hiya all...i am not going anywhere Lan!!! I am gonna be home for my vacation....all my minions decided to go to Hawaii for their vacation choices...i thought it was awesome they wanted to go together...with family..i hope they have fun and take pics!! i told them if they liked it to much and didnt come back i was going to hunt them down!!!

Today i went to the international farmers market and got all kinds of goodies....i had 2 carts full of fruits and veggies and some creole stuff...they had awesome stuff...like always...then i went to the asian market and got stuff...so i could have a dinner party tomorrow...i am making having a creole/cuban dinner party...gumbo, fresh crabs and lobster...crawfish and the works...plus exotic fruits and goodies...cakes and what not...although i don't eat meat i can make a veggie style gumbo for us vegetarians and it's to die for...Morgan has been begging me to make some cuban food(my nationality delight!) and i also want some creole food...which cuban and creole is so alike so they will go great together....i have been making the roux since early today....i can't wait!! plus it gives us a chance to use our deck and tiki area...and the pool...i wish you guys were here to come to it! i think you would love it!...well gotta get back in the kitchen and get as much done as i can tonight....have a great sunday all!!
