    Hey Budli,

I would love to see the BBC British aired version of Violet to Vita. I heard it was kind of hot. But I think we can only get a version meant for American audiences here. Your DVD players are a different zone than ours, so your DVDs won't play on our machines.

I have looked into trying to circumvent this problem but the only legal way would be to get a European DVD player which I just missed an opportunity because my mothers husband is from Cornwall and they went to visit his family at X-mas. Crap. I did not even think to have him buy a DVD player. All I asked for was tea. And I do not think they brought home a gift at all. Although I think they did bring home tea for their house.

Anyway, I have always wanted to see the European versions to American Films. I am not quite sure why. Just want to see the different versions.

Too bad about Sarah Waters. How about Emma Donahue(SP?)?.

    HI N ,

I didn't realise there was much of a muchness between different versions of the same film , I know t.v. shows are totally different , I think apart from points of reference ,there is a vast difference in sense of humour and also language used...America still tends to use a lot of 'old' english terminology e.g 'diaper' was widely used in England centuries ago but we now use the word 'nappy'...don't know why that particular word sprang to mind , I promise I'm NOT broody!!

As for the dvd player problem , would one purchased here work in the US , isn't your domestic electricity voltage different? or would you be able to just plug in an adaptor first?
DVD players are dirt cheap too , you can pick up a basic model for about £20-around $35 ....so you will definitely have to have words next time your mum visits our southern shores...Cornwall is a beautiful part of England...sadly I've only visited once...would love to go more often but there are so many other places to see too....

Back to authors...I have read quite a bit of Emma Donahue and find it good for when I'm in a light mood , she's quite a 'frothy' writer , kind of like a milkshake instead of a real fruit smoothie with pips and all....but she writes easy readers....and there is always a place for those.

Have you read any Val McDermid ? Her stuff is a lot grittier and dark and her 'Wire in the Blood' novel inspired a t.v. series , I've read lots of her stuff & can recommend her if you enjoy psychological thrillers , a warning tho , they are very detailed , so if you are squeamish...stiick to her more mainstream detective type novels...oh , and yes I've met her & she's a lovely , warm and very humble woman who loves what she does.

Phew....mega post today!! I am a bit of a bookworm tho and usually have a couple on the go at once...books...not worms...

Hi to everyone else this rather dull but dry afternoon here in York....I've just got a couple more little jobs to do but I'm having a well-earned break , in fact , I think I'll go make myself a ....will be right back!

I'll tell ya darlin, it's the best thing I've done for myself since I got sober. I actually took all of my reading glasses and made a lamp out of em.....which I intend to post a pic of eventually. And darlin, there is no need to be afraid. It really and truly does not hurt. The whole think took approximately 6 minutes from beginning to end.

I so have to agree with u here online it is so much easier for me then in person im shy shy i tell you but once I get to know someone and feel comfortable with a person it is just about katie bar the door. Then Im wide open. with that person and after a short while i do get to feel comfortable with them so that when i meet them im not as shy but it still takes me a bit before i am in person

I also agree that it gives those who want to hurt us find it easier to hide behind lies and to pray upon us and make us thier victims

Like Misty I have been told im too truthful for my own good also but I dont know how to b any other way jit has gotten me in trouble when ppl dont listen to me and dont hear me or what i say or if they hear me and it isnt what they want to hear I tell ppl all the time dont ask me something u REALLY dont want to know the answer to the question

    have a great day

    I

Yeah I could you an adapter and then get movies from the UK and watch them here.

Back to authors...I have read quite a bit of Emma Donahue and find it good for when I'm in a light mood , she's quite a 'frothy' writer , kind of like a milkshake instead of a real fruit smoothie with pips and all....but she writes easy readers....and there is always a place for those.

I remember the last one I read was Hood and as I could not remember the name of the book I went to see what see has written and I guess have missed a few if her books that are based in 18th century characters. I guess those must be the "frothy" books.

Have you read any Val McDermid ? \No. I have not read her but looked her up as well and she seems quite prolific. Seeing that you are a book worm anything new and good in feminist science fiction. Your Nicola Griffith has moved over here but switched from Sci Fi to crime stories. Though I enjoyed her last two books and I guess there is another one about to be released.

    Enjoy your .

    Morning all...

HAPPY ST> PATTY"S DAY TO ALL!!!

And on a slightly different note, just having read through some of the latest posts regarding Lasik surgery...

Had it done nearly 6 years ago...WOW...what a wonderful thing to do for yourself, especially if you have been chained to glasses for as long as I was.

I was 110% happy with the results, no pain involved at all, done and over with in no time, and of course, the biggest benefit is being able to see clearly, immediately, for the first time since I was in 3rd grade!!!

    Highly recommended!!!

    Love and peace to all...

    Good Evening One and All
    Fair Maidens,
    Gentlemen,

    a toast:
Like the warmth of the sun,
and the light of the day,
May the luck of the Irish
    Shine bright on your day.

now, the joke you knew was coming..lol

A Irish tourist attended his first baseball game. After a base hit he hears the fans roaring, "Run......Run!"
The next batter connects heavily with the ball and the irishman stands up and roars with the crowd in his rural accent, "R-r-run ya bastard, r-run with ya!"
He does this with the third batter aslo.
The next batter steadfastly holds his swing 4 times .
As the ump calls a walk the Irishman stands up and yells again.
All the surrounding fans giggle and he sets down confused.
A friendly fan whispers to the Irishman,"He doesn't have to run, he's got 4 balls."
After this explanation the Irishman stands up in disbelief and screams, "Walk with pr-r-ride man. Walk with pr-r-ride!!!"
Pain is inevitable; suffering is optional.

    Hi ya singles!

It's 2:30a.m. and I'm freezing my single butt off, times like this one knows they are REALLY single! Would laugh about it but that time is yet a tad off ... but I should get there in the next lifetime.
Thanks for the reps, the welcome and the pity ...I needed a hug. I'm doing O.K. I suppose, as I'm sure we all know some days are better then others. Some days I'm still shaking my head, if I'm not listening for the marbles to rattle I'm wondering what the hell happened here. Ah well, tomorrow is another day, there will be light, we will survive. Hope everyones weekend is going well.

Hello everyone! Just wanted to leave a post here stating that yes I am a single butch. And also wanted to ask a question what happened to the forum of " Daddy/littlegirl?"

Hi Mystic! The Daddy/girl thread is still around but not that active right now. You can find it at

Hope every one is having a good Sunday. Still single but I'm going out for a walk while the sun is out, maybe I'll spot a butch on my walk

    Cool

I'm a low maintenance femme from Pittsburgh, Pa who has been single for the past couple of years. I just finished up nursing school and vowed that I wouldn't be in a relationship while accomplishing that goal.

I'm at a place in my life that finding someone to share time with would be nice, but isn't a need for me as it may have once been. I think that friendships are invaluable and also think that the best relationships begin as friendships.

I'm also relatively new to this site and trying to navigate around it. If you happen to see me, send out a shout to say hello.

And no....the rest of you single people are not alone...

    Welcome to the new people.

Not much new here. Rough day at work as I did not get to sleep very late last night. I was alone I assure you. I am looking forward to going home and putting the Pj's on and watching some TV.

Well have a great night all.
