this is a selfish request, but i've been searching for over an hour and a half now, i'm soooooo not a techie, i'm trying to find one of my marathon posts about how "normal" people treat those of us with disabilities. can't find the darn thing, maybe i'm just over tired, is there some way to search for posts that doesn't take 2 hours???

    Happy Monday

Good morning everyone. I am quite the grumpy-butt this morning as my body decided it was hungry at 7 am and wouldn't let me sleep anymore. GRRR!! Stupid body!!!
Hope everyone is doing well. Gonna be another beautiful, cold day here in WV. Hope the bears got all filled up as I bet their bodies are telling them to go to sleep! It's 30 degrees, yet still no snow for me. I just think if it's gonna be this cold, there should be snow with it, ya know?
Um, Shy, are you tired of getting pm's from everybody and so have decided to just let your box fill up so nobody can send you any more?
    *waving hi to everyone*
    Have a super day!

    Morning, good peoples!

It's a beautiful day here at the cat ranch. Baby heathen and I are up and about and I've got laundry going. Hoping to have a productive day today. I haven't done jack-diddly for the longest. Still sick and now hacking up junk. I think I slept about 12 hours again but the rest is helping a lot.

As y'all know, my Uncle Richard died back in July, which really sucked. However, something good is coming out of it. I have made contact with an aunt that I hadn't had contact with since I was little! Can you say... wahoooooooooooooooo! I am so freakin' excited about it! She is so nice and really smart. I got photos in my email today, including a photo of her and her wife at their wedding! This just confirms for me that God can make something positive come out of bad situations, even a death in the family.

Will catch up on postings very soon. I apologize for the stuffed mailbox. Will go and clean it out right now. Wishing you all a terrific day.

Good morning everyone Well my daughter and I BOTH have the flu. I also feel like I have sandpaper in my throat and have lost my voice. I am sure there are some people who are happy about that LOL. I dont know if theres any scientific data to support this theory...Ever since I got fibromyalgia, I get sick so much easier. Just sayin. Well I hope everyone has as good a day as possible.

    Gentle hugs,
    Jewel

I guess it depends on where you are in WV for the snow..my aunt got some over the weekend. Well it's 76 here in Texas with clear blue skies.
Don't worry it will snow and then it will snow and snow..winter is just starting.

Afternoon to everyone and I have a question...for those who are on narcotics long term, what are some of the ways you balance this with your body, vitamins, cleansing?

    Thanks all!

    Good evening!
I'm home after eating entirely too much yummy home cookin' and gettin' spoiled and pampered! Sitting here waiting on the space heater to catch up - frost warning tonite! You said it, Shy - poor flowers!
Hope everyone is doing alright and can be warm and dry and know that you are loved!
    Sweet dreams!

    Good morning Everyone!

    Morning All,

I know this is last minute notice, but my final class today is testing to see if i can perform a long distance healing with Reiki,

I need three people to send healing energy to. If you are interested in receiving this gift, please email me a photo of yourself, if others are in the pic, tell me which one is you, and in your email please give me permission to send energy to you today.

During the hour of 10 am and 11:30 am my time, mountain standard, please lay down on your bed, floor, or sit quietly, whichever is most comfortable for you, during that time. and i will send energy. Please remember, i'm a student, and this is the first time i have done this. No promises on results. but i will do my very best for you.

I have to leave at no later than 8am my time, i have to stop at Kinko's and print out the pics before class. No one will see the pic but me. Even my teacher will not see it if you request it. Your privacy is my first concern. If you know someone who needs healing, you must have them give me permission before sending Their pic please.

I think BF has my email contact listed on my profile, i will go check. if not, pm me and i will send the address. I don't know if sending pics in pm's will work but we could try that also.

    Peace, Rhoda

Maybe its my state of mind....she kinda threw off a vibe of being nervous around me and not know what to say. I am really scared guys, i dont like dealing with ppl like this. all the doctors comming at you like ur ET and what not. Good for you in making and going to those appointments, Rae. That's awesome! And, as for the vibe you were picking up, maybe what you can do is communicate your difficulties in understanding things, emotions, etc, and just ask her outright if she is nervous or not. There is nothing wrong with asking you know. And she shouldn't get mad at you. Doctors understand those things. You are doing the right thing and taking the right steps! Don't start second guessing yourself now, ok? It's all good!

Great advice One thing I always tell people is to never forget that your doctor works for YOU. They are not G-d and are employed by you. And if the doctor seems to be in a hurry to get through the appointment (They usually are), you are within your rights to tell them to slow down and that you have questions that must be answered before they leave the room.

    Warm hugs,
    Jewel

Its really hard to do that sometimes espically when the doctor already treats u like ur crazy. I have been light headed for the past weeks. I asked her to sit and listen and she said she "Only has a certin time she is allowed with the patients."

please dont tolerate going to a Dr who treats the conditions instead of treating "you". I have been very lucky in getting some wonderful Drs who spend time with me and make eye contact and actually touch me to see and feel my pain, as well as to give comfort.

My new PCP is a wonderful woman who works WITH me. She isnt above me. We are a team..she said that on my first visit. I knew I had made the right choice.

I walked out of an orthepedic exam one time. The Dr walked in with 10 (yes TEN) interns and announced he was going to do an internal exam of my hips to the interns. Not to me. To them. I didnt know what that meant but to me,it meant a pap smear kind of exam. I jumped off the table in my little backless robe and yelled at him that he was disgraceful and insensitive and that he was teaching them the same things and they needed to know it was WRONG. My PCP who refered me there actually called that Dr and chewed him out for not explaining to me what the procedure was actually like (it wasnt a pap smear type of exam) and for not asking for my permission to let the interns in, let alone having a crowd in the room. I never went back to get the problem looked at since...but just made an appt to do so yesterday! 19 years had passed between then and now! I lived with the pain there instead of submit myself to more trauma...

((((Shy)))) hope you feel better soon and get healing rest!

Rae, I agree with Jewel and Goofy and softness- you have the right to hire, fire, get 2nd, 3rd, and 14th opinions! Don't accept any treatment that is not honoring and respectful. Shame on any doctor who says they don't have time for you! You deserve better!

softness - what a horrific experience! So glad you are putting it behind you now though and getting that problem looked at!

Well, folks, I gotta be honest with you...I'm having a day. Icing on my sh** cake was finding out at work that my timesheet was lost and instead of getting paid yesterday, I will be paid in 2 weeks with the next check. *sigh* Life keeps handing me lemons, but I'm running out of money to buy the sugar to make lemonade. Heh, my friend said to me "Who the h**l were you in your previous life?! Attila the Hun?!" LOL!!! Seriously, it's so hard to smile sometimes....
Hope the day was much better than mine for each of you!

So what kinds of tests did they do? Do you know the names of them? When do you get the results? Some of us might have had the same ones and so would be able to give you some insight. Any and all tests should be explained to you by the doctors but I think sometimes it's helpful to hear from a regular person. I have found it very useful to write down a list of questions when you go for the appointments, too. Get a copy of your med recs for your own files. Once you get them make another copy. You will be glad you did at some point, trust me.

Now are we talking about a P-doc (psychiatrist) or other doctors as well? In my experience P-docs do not have a warm bedside manner. You'd think you'd get more for your money. Be aware that some doctors will get an attitude when you begin taking a more "hands-on" approach to your own health care. I have dealt with pissy, mocking, sarcastic doctors. Remember: you are your own best advocate. You have to live in your body, not them. Learn everything you can about your condition(s). Research it. Example: I have a list of websites specifically about MS that I keep handy and I also use the bigger, more general sites like Mayoclinic.com as well.

    Okey dokey...Paxil (paroxetine) info:

My favorite site for that kind of meds (for a more layman's view) It's funny as hell, too.
    Just type in "Paxil".
Welcome to Crazy Meds, your one-stop information portal for the mentally interesting. More or less.
    www.crazymeds.us/

A good site to check drugs:
    Drugs.com
    www.drugs.com/paxil.html

This is one of the generic drugs on my Wal-Mart cheapie $4 a month list so it will likely be on the cheapie lists at other places as well.

    It will be okay. Really.

And never overlook chicken flavored ramen noodles. *nod to BuddyBoi* Pretty good if you toss in some dried chives and a spoon of dehydrated vegetables (my favorite) or some kind of leftover veggies or chicken.

I lived with the pain there instead of submit myself to more trauma...
    Oh HELL no.

IMHO, that is a doctor who is more concerned about how many patients they can cram into a day. Was this an initial visit? Just curious...

Yup. This is a great reason to try and have a list of questions together. You can keep things focused (saving time) and get your info, too. I have also made occasional use of the phone; I call and leave a message with her nurse and if Ms. K can't answer the question she will pass it on to Dr. C and someone gets back to me. Of course I am also not a new patient.

Oh, that sucks so bad. One of my favorite sayings is, "I try to take one day at a time but sometimes several days attack me at once". Can you do payment arrangements on anything? You can do that with utilities here.

Isn't it awful that it takes such dramatic circumstances to make us realize what is truly important sometimes? I'm sorry that happened to you, LA, but am SO glad you are learning to make the best of it.
Welcome to the thread! Hope to see more of you!

    Good morning everyone!
It is another gorgeous day here in WV. It's 83 right now, and I'm about to go soak up some sun. Wanted to stop by real quick and say Hi to everyone first though.
HB - sorry you are sick again. I'm telling you, ya gotta get some airborne!!! It's da bomb!!! *Tucking you in, plumping your pillows, move your laptop so it's more comfy for you to play on. Puts a little handbell on the nightstand so you can ring it and not have to shout if you want something.*
Shy - hope you feel better soon too. I'll let Rhon take care of you.
    Miami - how you doing?
    Gabe - and you?
Rhoda - how'd your test go? really wish I hadn't slept so late yesterday.
OHB - you coming up for air any time soon? How's the back today?
Everyone else - howdy! *waving* hope everyone has a pain-free day today!
*running outside to soak up some sun while I still can*

Glad you learned those important lessons. I was pretty upset after all my back surgeries, so I know where you were. I refuse to let my "stuff" change me in a negative way or make me bitter. Its just not worth it. Life is wayyyy too short.

    Warm hugs,
    Jewel

“The decision to kiss for the first time is the most crucial in any love story. It changes the relationship of two people much more strongly than even the final surrender; because this kiss already has within it that surrender.”
