PrimoKnight, Trazadone withdrawal is no fun at all. Are you gradually reducing your dosage or just quiting it all at once? Quitting it all at once can be dangerous! You need to be grdually reducing the amount you take every several nights. Is this your decision or your Dr.s It doesn't sound very safe to me. Just my 2 cents worth,

    chemo for RA

    hey folks...
the docs just put my ex on chemo for her RA...he says she is about a year behind in treatment and is not sure if it will reverse...so.... anyway...my question is about side effects... i read that they dont go so hard core on RA as they do on cancer...but i am sure it is rough either way...
i told her to smoke pot...for the nausea and pain...but she asked me will it curtail other s/e...i told her i didnt know...
she wants to see if she can stop the hairloss associated w/ chemo... does anyone know if there is anything that she can do? i hate that i am in another state and not there to take care of her...but that is what she wants...its hard to know that someone needs help and not be able to furnish it.

Glad to hear you got that straightened out! What a relief, eh?

I did some research on Trazadone withdrawal (when you originally posted about it) and I was concerned that maybe your doctor decided to yank you off it suddenly. I guess it is ugly to withdraw from suddenly.

I ran out of my Lamictal once (not my fault, damn previous p-doc office lost my paperwork for assistance) and it wasn't good. Had to go on Cymbalta instead and that lasted about 3 days (baaaad) until I got it straightened out by my primary care, who writes 95% of my prescriptions now. I keep a few spare ones just in case. Not eager to go through that again.

I don't know what happened there. It had itched like crazy for a couple days before I got the spot and then boom! the spot was there. Now it is fading out. Go figure. Scared the crap out of me. Guess I will always be a bit paranoid about it, after that ugly business in 2002. Thing swelled up so bad I couldn't wear shoes, only a moccasin tied very loosely. I had pain all the way up to the middle of my back.

Spirituality sure helps, doesn't it? Glad you have a good roommate. A lot of people just don't get it.

I eat mostly vegetarian. We just got some of those Stacy's chips at Whole Foods last month. Pretty good stuff. Currently the big favorite around here are Trader Joe's Salsa Tortilla Chips, which are pretty low in sodium. I am having to watch my sodium more closely these days. They taste a lot like Doritos but more flavor and less salt.

I did the same thing! I asked around to a few friends to see if anyone had any. No one did though. I keep a few of my meds on "standby" too. Its too easy to have things get messed up and I have been glad to have my stash more than once.SSF

If you feel up to it, give me a holler. I'll be here from now until about 3:30PM EST then I have to go run errands until about 8PM. Got to mail packages and such, also check the PO box and run to store. Rush hour here is icky.

Hi everyone! Sorry I've been MIA for so long. Things have been pretty good except for the usual aches and pains and the depression monkey that kept picking the lock to his cage. lol I put him in a steel box for the holidays, making sure he doesn't get out and ruin them for me. Shy, got your Christmas card! Thanks SO much!! Yours is in the mail, homie. I've been having some problems with my back and neck lately, the whole antsy crawly thing, plus the other day, I turned my head a certain way, and I felt what felt like electricity running down both arms to the tips of my fingers. Now, I'm no doctor, but I KNOW that's not good. Going to my doctor and asking him what's up next week, and I swear, if he doesn't give me a straight answer or at least run some tests, I'm gonna go ballistic on him. Well, that's about it for me. Rhoda, repeat after me... I will NOT let my body be the boss of me, and too much work makes Rhoda achy! OHB, hope your back isn't giving you any more problems. SSF, I keep a stash of all my meds too. I refuse to be psychotic just because I can't make it to the pharmacy on a regular basis. lol Everyone else, hang in there, keep smiling, because if nothing else, it makes ppl wonder what you're up to! Re: A Taoist Monk

I am called a "Taoist monk" b/c I spend my time either meditating and praying or studying Taoism. I don't look for a partner. I suppose that I shall be spending my life doing the above. Of course, if a Knight/Syr sweeps me up and carries me off, I wouldn't complain. But hy must understand my need for /meditation and study. I have my altar w/the traditional Taoist Gods on it. They are aspects of the Tao. So I am a polytheist and monotheist at the same thing.
Presently I am studying the Ta Chuan and the I-Ching. Very fascinating. If anyone has an questions for the I-Ching and does not have an automated I-Ching on their 'puter, let me know. I will gladly ask it. I will let you know the answer in about two days. I do much research on the answer.

sure honey, I am going to lunch with my godmom tomorrow. So i am planning on a nap when i get home. so later in the evening is better.

Okay I gotta brag for a minute. I made my GodMom 2 really huge cushions, her spine is as screwed up as everyone else in our family. so the only thing i can do to wrap these Pillow-saurs (kinda like a dinosaur, but fluffy) is put them in a black garbage bag. So then i am wondering what the hell I am going to do for a ribbon.. then I was trying to get the quilting mess semi cleaned up when i came across some red satin... so i sewed a super long ribbon and it looks freaking awesome if i do say so myself.
and nowwww.... we return to our previously scheduled nap!

I made my GodMom 2 really huge cushions, her spine is as screwed up as everyone else in our family. so the only thing i can do to wrap these Pillow-saurs (kinda like a dinosaur, but fluffy) is put them in a black garbage bag. So then i am wondering what the hell I am going to do for a ribbon.. then I was trying to get the quilting mess semi cleaned up when i came across some red satin... so i sewed a super long ribbon and it looks freaking awesome if i do say so myself.
and nowwww.... we return to our previously scheduled nap!

oh how cool. I have 2 large pillows I bought for ang and have them stuffed in my closet to keep her from knowing and was wondering short of putting them in pillow cases how to wrap them. you are so creative and i do hope your Godmom finds them restful

LOL

Sounds like both batches are arriving now. Woohoo! I'm looking forward to getting yours. All I've been getting lately are free samples and junk mail.

That sounds like a nerve thing. If I touch my chin to my chest or tip my head back too far I get something like that:

It feels so gross it makes me sick to my stomach. Luckily now that my doctors all know me I don't have to do that during an exam anymore. Tipping my head back too far also makes me feel like my head is going to fall off. If I MUST tip my head way back I support my head with my hand and try not to do it for very long.

i told her to smoke pot...for the nausea and pain...but she asked me will it curtail other s/e...i told her i didnt know...
she wants to see if she can stop the hairloss associated w/ chemo... does anyone know if there is anything that she can do? i hate that i am in another state and not there to take care of her...but that is what she wants...its hard to know that someone needs help and not be able to furnish it.
I am on chemo for my RA and I do smoke pot for the pain and nausea (we have medical marijuana in Oregon).
I haven't had any side effects from this, however, it must be duly noted that I smoked pot long before ever needing it medically. LOL

hair loss: the dosage for RA doesn't really cause all that much hair loss, but if it is a probelm try rogaine. Maybe it will help.

Pot for pain: If she isn't used to smoking it, then yes, it will cause her to be all giggly and stuff at first, but after awhile you get used to how much you need individually and can adjust it so you don't get any major interference.
I recommend trying 2 or 3 puffs, then wait 15 minutes before you attempt anymore (it takes about that long to take effect)

    Hey y'all

Shy, soooo glad to hear your leg is doing well! i can't even imagine how worried you were about it.

There is a slight ice storm going on outside, which is very unusual for us. We rarely get any "bad" weather until Feb or March, so hearing the sleet is kinda weird, but i have to admit i don't mind it at all. This is only because i don't have to go outside except to take Kiba out, and Sabrina will even do that for me if the sidewalks get slippery.

It's so good to hear from all y'all!

    Keep on keepin on

I hope so too! I mean these pillowsaurs are about 2 feet squares. I was going to use wired ribbon but didn't find what I liked. I am sure ang will love the pillows you got her!

I am so sad today My beloved bird Pitu died in the night. He was such a riot of a bird. He said his name, did the cat call and a few show tunes! We get so attached to our little critters. Leni the cat ans Albert the puppy are fine. Leni will miss Pitu cause he used to stalk him. Pitu would send Leni running with a bleeding nose! It will be quiet here now cause Pitu was a very very loud creature at times, but I will miss the noise.SSF

I'm sorry to hear about your loss, SSF. Losing a pet can be like losing a child, heartrending. But don't worry, Pitu is up in birdie heaven, looking down and wondering what all the fuss is about. Bless you and yours in this time of greiving.

    Re: identification

I can so identify w/you, ShyFemmeKat! I have MS, RSD, COPD,Fibromyalgia, Hemiplegic Migranes, and Seizures. I feel so un-femmely at times! I can't do a thing around the house; my clothes no longer fit b/c I've lost so much weight; most of the time, esp. in the winter I spend most of my times in bed!
What has really helped me is my spiritual path. I am a Taoist and a Tibetan Buddhist. I try to meditate every day, even if I have to do so in bed. Sometimes I do my entire prayer service in bed!But meditation esp. has helped to ground me. I know that my worth as a person does not depend my outside qualities but upon my inner qualities. What matters is how I treat myself and others. Years ago I took the Bodhisattva Vow.Remembering to treat myself and other w/compassion and kindness and to live in the moment helps immensely. I am now studying to be a Roshi. My Master is my roles model. I admire him immensely! He also has many diseases. I never hear him complain. His concern is always for the welfare of others, esp. me. (He is an FtM, on T) He is always calm and composed. I wish so much I could have his composure. But, as he tell me, that takes years to develop. I am slowly going on the Way.

Okay I think I need to go out more...

I was curled up watching House and thought.... Hmm ya know my thread buddies and I could play disease poker....

this is the part where I thought gee I gotta get out more.

I figured that every time a disease that you have been diganosed with is mentioned that earns you a card.

if a disease that you have been tested for is mentioned 2 of those gets you a card..

then make the best hand you can with the cards you have earned.....

Yup need to get out more.

SSF, so sorry to hear of your loss! I'm sure that you and all of your fur-family will miss Pitu very much! I know what it's like to get attached to the smaller animals. I've never had a bird. I had guinea pigs for ages, though. Every time each one died, I would mourn forever, it seemed. I'm still mourning my little Burble. He's been dead for years. I keep a picture of him by my bedside!
SSF, you are going through so much. You do it with such grace! You don't whine or show self-pity. I admire you!

    theories on auto immune diseases...

The number of auto immune diseases are so staggering in todays society and sometimes you can identify the geographical pockets. sometimes its outta nowhere... ive noticed that no one has just one it seems4758888888888888(<--Edgrr, my cat helping)
i assume that one of the reasons is how prevalent the use of anti-bacterial soaps and such are in oir waters and land. maybe the impurities in our foods...
the drs in sw fl i have found do not even talk to janine about her eating habits, and man are they the most extreme i have ever seen... meat only... no shit... well coffee...
i keep wanting to figure out what are the causes of her diseases so that maybe i can fix them... any theories on the prevalence of AI diseases?
i am really excited that the US is finally playing with stem cells... i hope the dems dont let the gop totally screw up HC reform... yeah right...
have you noticed that intelligent ppl are alot of the time too nice and the more ignorant have no compunctions about going for the jugular?
one of the reasons evolution is damned to be imperfect...
anyway... hoping i didnt offend with my post... just started rambling and didnt feel like erasing....
    and... Edgrr did it!

Question Re: number of autoimmune diseases

    Blass,
You make a good point! Once you get one autoimmune disease, you seem to be at high risk to get others. Is anyone here on an humo-globulin like Betaseron or, ai, I can't think of the others! I do know they are called A,B,C, and R. Tysabri-that is the name of one of the more experimental and dangerous ones for MS, I believe! I've only been on steroids for mine. My insurance won't pay for the others, plus I'm concerned that one might make me sicker than I am!
