Okay so these are the grading questions that Thea, Gemme and myself will have to answer and assign a number value from 1-10 to. All scores will be averaged out. The highest average score is the one that wins.

1. character- does the song play a major part in the story? Does the song stand out in the story? (think of movies like Hairspray, Moulin Rouge that helped support the storyline)
   
2. relationship to song- does it lend it's flavor to the story? Can you ID at least 4 references to the song within the story?
   
3. Promptness- kind of self explanatory everyone starts with a 10 and it goes down from there the closer we are to the deadline

That's it... easy enough. Gemme and Thea will score and then send the scores to me via PM. I will add em up and average them out. They will be posted the final day of the competition. Gemme and Thea (yes I am ignoring you about yours not being graded Thea) will be graded by a special guest mystery judge. That may or may not choose to reveal their identity.

Wanna know what you are competing for? I have a little set of little things I have sewn. so the winner will get...
1 quilted to go coffee cup wrap
2 micromitts (kind of like oven mits for the microwave)
2 quilted coasters.
( once the winner is determined we will talk and they will be able to pick the material from the ones I have on hand)

2nd place might get a prize too just depends on how much I can sew between now and the deadline.

the picking part is going to be the fun part. I thought we would incorporate some music. I have everything from Classical to opera to alternative to punk to rock to country. if you choose one that has no lyrics then you can have a freebie to guess another number

So anyone that wants to participate just needs to guess a number from 1-896 from that number you will be given a song from my play list. You are free to reject the first choice. but if you make a 2nd choice it will have to be about one of the 2 you have been given.

Now that you have your song.... make a story about it... it could be anything but the song and it's lyrics have to be their own character in the story.

hey Liz,

You can do it all actually. you can incorporate the lyrics. you can play off them. or your can build the story off the song's backbone. If you look at the grading curve it might help you see how you are going to be scored as well.

Technically yes your first choice is 22 BUT because it is in a different language, you are free to scratch that one and put another quarter in the jukebox. If you don't like that one, you have your first actual refusal.

I pretty much knew that in my playlist that there are a LOT of songs in various languages and the odds were pretty good that at least one person would hit one of those songs. I posted it anyways just in case you happened to speak/read french

it's up to you though if you really want to give the french song a try.
