i did the same thing and came up with that answer.....but the book lists the odd answers i nt the back of book...and they list the answer of negative 4/5....
so how does our answer come close to that????

    I don't know...

-4/5 comes up to be -.8, while our answer is more like -.803...our is more precise!

we jsut started doing this infernal exercise of solving "rational expressions".

in this section we have to :

solve complex RE's using the LCD method.

    ex:

    2/5 - 1/3
    ________

    2/3 - 3/4

now the odd thing to me on this one.....is that while you can multiply the top on left side by 3/3 and the right side by 5/5......then below you cannot do that...because the bottom has "12" as a common factor....

so i give up....cuz i think you have to have the same for top and bottom???
    Ok, if we get a common denominator for the whole thing , 3 x 4 x 5 is 60

i discovered that at the end....i could take that expression and set it side by side and multiply it out...to come up with the answer....

    1/15 * -1/12

    1/15 * 12/-1 = 12/-15 = -4/5...

i thnk that is it....but the book doesn't show you that step..and ow to remember when to use this strategy is beyond me....

    thanks for helping me tho....

    I was bad

In another thread...again. I got ticked off...and please don't say that I need anger management. 'Cause I've had it 5 times already...and everytime I something like this happens..I go see my counselor...and she asks me what happened, and what lead up to it...and what I did to control it..and I tell her the truth..and she asks me if I hit anyone..or if I woulda if I coulda...and I tell the truth..and she says I used my tools...and I didn't get physical with anyone and that I didnt want to..and that everyone gets angry and that doesn't mean they have a problem..just that they got angry..'cause every one does..and that I'm OK. And I went back to the thread after I cooled down..and it was too late to delete the post. And now Sunni's gonna hate me. (WHYYYYY do I have to have such a stereotypical Irish/Cherokee temper?)
It was nice thinkin' with y'all...and pervin with y'all.
    Goodbye
