Aljazeera Television has aired a video from Usama bin Ladin.

Bin Ladin's latest message was for the American people.

The timing of this videotape is significant as it comes less than a week before the American presidential elections.

Usama bin Ladin heads al-Qaida, held responsible for the attacks of 11 September 2001 on New York and Washington.

UPDATE: FROM ARABIAN WEBSITE : Some of the words from tape.
Bin Ladin: Reasons to attack US remain

    Saturday 30 October 2004, 0:15 Makka Time, 21:15 GMT

Usama bin Ladin claimed responsibility for the 9/11attacks

Usama bin Ladin has appeared on Aljazeera television on Friday, threatening new attacks on the United States.
    .....
Gesturing at the camera with a finger to stress points, bin Ladin once again took responsibility for the September 11 attacks and said reasons to attack the United States remain.

He also accused US President George Bush of deceiving the American people.

"Despite the fact that we are into the fourth year after September 11, President Bush is still misleading you and hiding the real reason from you, which means that the reasons to repeat what happened remain," bin Ladin said.

In his address just four days ahead of the US presidential election, bin Ladin also said the US administration resembled "corrupt" Arab governments.

    Looking healthy

Apparently sitting or standing at a table against a neutral brown background, bin Ladin wore a white head covering and white tunic under a light brown cloak.

Reading from a sheet of paper, his voice was strong and he appeared in fair health.

He accused Bush of reacting slowly to the September 11 attacks, saying: "I never thought that the supreme leader would leave 50,000 of his people in the two towers to face the terrifying events alone at the time they were in need for him."

Refering to next week's elections, he told Americans: "Your security is not in the hands of (Democratic candidate John) Kerry or (President George W.) Bush or al-Qaida. Your security is in your own hands ...."

"We decided to destroy towers in America," because "we want to regain the freedom of our nation," bin Ladin said.

Bin Ladin also said the United States considers "killing innocent people including children in Iraq" a legitimate act.

He said the United States has dropped millions of tonnes of bombs on Iraqi children, just for the sake of replacing an old agent with a new one to plunder Iraqi oil wealth.

Bin Ladin said the September 11 attacks was in response to the injustices by the United States.

NOTE: What I'm afraid of is that the right wing will use Osama's words to promote Bush. I hope we the people can see through that......tommy

more later, because this version still left a lot out...or the other places playing parts of it lied. [imagine that]

    Excerpts: Bin Laden video

Arabic TV station al-Jazeera has broadcast excerpts of a videotape of Osama Bin Laden addressing the American people.
Here is a transcript of those excerpts broadcast by al-Jazeera:

Bin Laden spoke directly to camera :

"Oh American people, my talk to you is about the best way to avoid another Manhattan, about the war, its causes, and results.

Security is an important pillar of human life. Free people do not relinquish their security. This is contrary to Bush's claim that we hate freedom.

Let him tell us why we did not strike Sweden, for example. It is known that those who hate freedom do not have proud souls, like the souls of the 19 people [killed while perpetrating the 11 September 2001 attacks], may God have mercy on them.

We fought you because we are free and do not accept injustice. We want to restore freedom to our nation. Just as you waste our security, we will waste your security. "

    'Striking the towers'

"I am amazed at you. Although almost four years have passed since the [11 September] incidents, Bush is still practising distortion and confusion.

He also continues to conceal from you the real reason [for the 11 September attacks]. Thus, the motives still exist for repeating what happened.

I will speak to you about the reasons behind these incidents. I will honestly tell you about the minutes in which the decision was made so that you will consider. I say to you that God knows that the idea of striking the towers never occurred to us.

Your security is in your own hands

But, after things had gone too far and we saw the injustice of the US-Israeli alliance against our people in Palestine and Lebanon, I started thinking of that.

The events that influenced me directly trace back to 1982 and subsequent events when the United States gave permission to the Israelis to invade Lebanon, with the aid of the sixth US fleet.

At those difficult moments, many meanings that are hard to describe went on in my mind. However, these meanings produced an overwhelming feeling to reject injustice and generated a strong determination to punish the unjust ones.

While I was looking at those destroyed towers in Lebanon, it occurred to me to punish the unjust one in a similar manner by destroying towers in the United States so that it would feel some of what we felt and to be deterred from killing our children and women...

We did not find it difficult to deal with Bush and his administration, because it is similar to regimes in our countries, half of which are governed by the military and the other half of which are governed by the sons of kings and presidents; and we have a long experience with them.

In both categories, you find many who are characterised by hubris, arrogance, greed, and unlawful acquisition of money. This similarity transpired since Bush Senior's visit to the region."

    'Election rigging'

"While some of our people were dazzled by the United States and hoped that these visits would affect our countries, he, instead, was affected by these royal and military regimes, envying them for remaining in their posts for scores of years, embezzling public money without being held accountable or monitored.

Accordingly, he transferred dictatorship and the repression of freedoms to his son by introducing the

Patriot Act..... under the pretext of fighting terrorism.

Bush Senior deemed it appropriate to assign his sons to states. He also did not forget to convey the [election] rigging experience from the leaders of the [Arab] region to Florida to benefit from it at critical times...

We had agreed with the chief amir [leader - of the 11 September hijackers] Mohammed Atta that he should accomplish all the operations within 20 minutes before Bush and his administration could take notice.

It never occurred to us that the supreme commander of the US armed forces would leave 50,000 of his citizens in the two towers to face those great horrors alone, at a time when they needed him badly.

This is because it seemed to him that being preoccupied with the little child's talk about her goat and its butting was more important than being preoccupied with the planes and their ramming into the skyscrapers.

This gave with three times the period required for carrying out the operations, praise be to God.

Your security does not lie in the hands of Kerry, Bush, or al-Qaeda. Your security is in your own hands. Each and every state that does not tamper with our security will have automatically assured its own security. "

    wow..tommy

he sure has Bush figured out.

    thank you.

There's nothing I hate more than an undecided terrorist.

I love that Osama bin Laden timed the release of proof of his survival and responsibility for the 2001 attacks to the Friday before the United States election.

Even more so, his statement that neither candidate can guarantee American security penetrates to the heart of Bush's campaign. Because while Kerry has not been the Commander-in-Chief for the past four years, and therefore has no record or responsibility of letting Osama go free, Bush does. Osama's statement, while nonpartisan, does far more damage to the one who let him live and plot until today than to the one who did not. Kerry can argue, quite convincingly, and more convincingly than ever, in fact, that he would not have allowed this.

Osama, seriously addressing the American people as if he were a schoolteacher, maintains and demonstrates his FREEDOM and POWER. He is unfettered. He is able to influence and motivate the entire organization beneath him. (Just a few weeks ago the Bushies were claiming that even if he were alive Osama had no remaining power.) And he is exercising that freedom and power to the fullest extent possible.

I swear to the Universe this man has more power than does the President of the United States.

    Dear nerdkOre,

Not that it matters, but your post pleased me very much.
His descriptions of GWB mirror a lot of ours here in our country. Additionally some of his claims against Bush are frightening, and believable, too.
Some of us had growing fears of Bush for a long time, that OBL's words crytalized.

Bush and company and the ilk of his minions eg Anne Coulter, Laura Ingram, and hunderds of others that surface every now and again from the bowels of somewhere ugly to beat us on the left and ridicule our observations.

They will happily drag us into world war and certain annihilation of life as we know it. They are frightening in their ferver, and their pawns the religious right follows in their wake.

They believe that the "time is near" for the apocalypse. So wars and what goes with them is on their menu, and it doesn't frighten them, because thats when their savior will come again.

Now that's scary to me. And Bush who was 'installed by god' is bringing that to fruition. Hosanna---lol

What happened to the days when all our president did was get oral sex in the oval office. lol.

    thanks for listening.

It is not hard to figure out Bush, he is a puppet.

Tommy I just pray he and his handlers do not postpone the election for terrorist reasons, as he has mentioned several times. I went to a CO workshop recently and will post someplace the steps needed to ensure safety for an individual or a teenager. There is a silent M draft already in place which is currently drafting people up to the age of 58. The M draft is for people in the Medical fields.

Will this M draft leave us short in the USA?

This is too big for me to wrap my mind around.

    The Osama Surprise

The Washington Post Editorial: Sunday, October 31, 2004; Page B06

AL QAEDA HAS been threatening, and many people have expected, another terrorist attack against the United States before Tuesday's elections. Others have speculated that the Bush administration would surprise the world with the arrest of Osama bin Laden. Instead, what surfaced Friday was an 18-minute videotape from the al Qaeda leader in which he sought to lecture Americans on the eve of their vote. In doing so, he managed to establish that he is still alive, in relatively good health and in command of an organization, three points that some experts had come to doubt -- and that implicitly indict the administration's efforts to neutralize him. A lethal attack could still be forthcoming. Yet it was not a picture of great strength that Osama bin Laden offered Friday -- nor one that ought to divide Americans.

Start with his defensiveness: The "emir" who once issued medieval declarations of war against "Jews and crusaders" and who bankrolled the Taliban's despotism in Afghanistan now feels obliged to protest that he does not "hate freedom." To justify his murder of thousands of Americans on Sept. 11, 2001 -- a crime for which he now openly takes responsibility -- he cites not his erstwhile platform for Islamic dictatorship in the Middle East but -- improbably -- Israel's 1982 invasion of Lebanon. Something is clearly troubling Osama bin Laden: Could it be the millions of Afghans who eagerly turned out to vote in the country's first democratic elections this month and who overwhelmingly supported the moderate, pro-Western Hamid Karzai for president? Or the growing support for democratic government in Iraq, especially from senior members of the Islamic clergy? Al Qaeda suddenly finds itself on the wrong side of a swelling debate about freedom in the Middle East -- one triggered both by Osama bin Laden's bloody extremism and the powerful U.S. response to it.

His appeal to Americans was remarkably weak: Leave Afghanistan and the Middle East to us, he said, and we will spare you as we have Sweden. Few would have accepted this proposal even before Sept. 11; three years later, it is so preposterous that it merely evinces the enemy's desperation. The tirade against President Bush and his family was even clunkier. Maybe it was meant to shift voters away from the president on Tuesday; more likely it will do the opposite.

Both Mr. Bush and John F. Kerry were quick to reject Osama bin Laden's words and to promise unrelenting war against him. After a brief pause, each then sought to turn the moment against the other. With hours left in their tight race, this was inevitable, and there is no reason why Mr. Kerry should not reiterate his oft-stated criticisms of the administration's campaign against al Qaeda, nor Mr. Bush his about Mr. Kerry's aptitude for fighting terrorism. What ought to remain clear, however, is the common and uncompromising rejection of Osama bin Laden and his suggestion of appeasement.

The candidates can do that today and tomorrow; on Tuesday, it will be time for Americans to demonstrate, by their attendance at the polls, which side in this war loves freedom

I'ts an editorial (therefore an opinion) from the Washington Post with wich I agree very much so. I thought it came up with pretty good analysis.

I am for Democracy so, yes, I am voting. Better that than burkas, hands chopped, heads chopped, etc... etc... etc...

AND, I am not running for anything on Tuesday. Are you? Good luck if you are,

you know, i shouldn't say too much here... but thank you, tommy, for starting this thread... i just wish i'd seen it sooner.

and thank you to everyone for what you've all added to this, and i agree. we need to find the asshole and take care of something that should have ended years ago.

it' s depressing to think that he has (or might have) this hold on our nation, on our people... and even more depressing to know that our president has done *NOTHING* to change that.. commander-in-chief swept it under the rug.

I pity the person who allows Bin Laden's rant to sway their vote! I think most of us are too smart for that, already too sure of who we are voting for for that. When I first read his missive I had to acknowledge that some of his points were valid (regarding the US being in bed with the Saudi Royal family and other corrupt mideastern countires) but that in NO WAY validates attacks on innocents. Bin Laden and his ilk are NOT freedom loving, just look at the way the Taliban treated the people of Afgahnistan, especially women and children. Is freedom only for men? It is scary how many people Bin Laden represents with his views...and it's not all unfounded: the US really ought to start practicing what it preaches and become an honorable government again, as opposed to puppets for corporations and the elite who will do whatever necessary to plunder forgein countries for their own financial gain. On the flip side, I do not believe the US is alone in its sins against the world, there are plenty of countries past and present who murder and plunder for riches, ideologies, ancient hatreds.

    VOTE early and often, kids!!

    Re: Patriot Act

Letter I sent to my Senators re PATRIOT ACT.

    **********************************************
    November 2, 2004

    Dear Madam Senator,

Thank you for your timely e-mail responses to my concerns.

By his very own words even OBL knows that our PATRIOT ACT is a dangerous move. But he merely echoes how the majority of the electorate feels about this misnomered document.

How is it that he knows more about what the American people think than our elected officials do?

The PATRIOT ACT is by far the most disliked most distrusted ‘law’ passed by your august body. We also know that it was thrust upon you while we all were still in the throes of the 9/11 attack; and pushed through without the most careful scrutiny.

The ‘street talk’ is that the Bush administration produced this document too fast for it not to be pre-prepared, and 9/11 provided the perfect vehicle from which to spring it.

Well, leaving out any ‘conspiracy theory’ that my words imply. We, the American electorate, are of the mind that this PA should be trashed in its entirety, and a new one drawn up leaving out all infringements on our civil liberties.

This engagement and scrutiny by the electorate is now the new reality. No longer are we the American people going to sit back and assume you all know better.

I hope tomorrow we will all be toasting President-elect Kerry. And a brave new NOW.

    Thank you for listening,

    me

    Ravenouss,

You were right. Sorry for being so blatantly rude.

Woody Allen tells a story about this guy, who tells his shrink. “My brother thinks he’s a chicken.”
The shrink says. “Don’t worry, bring him in, we’ll fix him up.”
    “No, I can’t.”
    “Why.”
    “---we need the eggs.”
    My take:
Maybe relationships are crazy. ----But we need the eggs………..tommy
