Hello out there... well, I have a feeling that this little post will go lonely and unanswered (having some trouble working up my usual Libra positivity here) but I figured I'd give it a shot anyway.
Are there ANY real Butches and Femmes here in Indiana??????
I'm so tired of being accused of being a straight grrl by all the lesbians!!! grrrrrrrrr
I'd love to find some Femmes to shop with, Butches to... well, whatever with... hee hee
I don't have the highest of hopes here, but maybe, just maybe, someone will toss me the lifeline to the B/F community here, if it exists...

Hi, no you are not the only one! I am a femme in Noblesville. I used to be really "out" as a femme, to the point where I think I was just annoying to the Indianapolis lesbian community at large. Then I got middle-aged and settled down and don't get out much anymore.

When I was in my late 20s I spent a lot of energy trying to get a butch/femme community organized in Indianapolis, without much success. A friend and I used to do butch/femme workshops at NWMF, which were fairly well attended, so I think that all it would take to get something started would be someone with energy to try it again. It's been 10 years...I think Indianapolis is more ready for it now than it was back then.

Talk about feeling invisible...just moved back "home" to Indiana a year ago after living in some fabulous places the last 10 years. Being very femme in this very small town basically equates to being perceived as straight, since there is no community for me to establish myself in here...and no Butch for me to hold hands with at the movies. I do miss having femme girlyfriends to go shopping with, too. And oh do I miss seeing the Butches at Home Depot <grin>. But I still look, ever hopeful...hehehehe

College is the best place to come out. We get imported lesbians here from all over the country.

I made the mistake of hacking my hair so I actually LOOK gay now (or look like a turnip-farmer, if I'm wearing a kerchief), but before that I passed as straight. Not a bad thing for a closet-case most of the time, but **** frustrating when gals at meetings shoot me "nuh-uh" looks, or ask rude "are you sure" questions.

There's no shortage of femmes, feminine tomboys, or andros here. But I know of exactly two butch gals in all of Northern Indiana, and they both SMOKE!

I know what you mean about getting the look from lesbians, like you can't possibly be one. I think that's why femmes have the reputation of being so aggressive--we have to be, or nobody will know!

I'm a Hoosier transplant to Atlanta...I'm a Midwestern girl at heart so I check in here periodically. I'm glad to see that there are some more posts to this thread (I was a little worried about y'all in Nov./Dec.)

I don't think there ever really has been a big B/F scene in Indy or anywhere else in IN (I grew up in Laf. and lived in Indy for many years before coming here.)

It's great to be able to come here and see that there are like-minded people... In Atlanta, we've had a great time getting together socially. Maybe y'all will be able to do the same...if not for one gathering, then for individual meetings.

I was born in Muncie, too. In fact . . . every girl I know that EVER lived in muncie is at least bi now.

There's a bar up here in South Bend called the SeaHorse that's huge into butch/femme . . . I'm not sure I like all the pressure to be 100% hard-ass butch or high-femme, but it's a nice bar nonetheless. Adorable drag kings!!!

I’m not sure about the “play party” as that is being organized by someone else. But what we do have so far is a meet and greet of some kind on Friday. A late brunch at a park on Saturday morning, some free time, then dinner at a great place Saturday night, then dancing after dinner. Sunday we will have a brunch at a restaurant that hasn’t been selected.

Im no dawg .. Im tied yet to any particular girl.. an Im not sure what is the problem.. Im very social.. I love kids .. I try stay positive.. there about 5 to maybe even 6 girls im interested in but you know what there is one in particular...
