    Motorcycling

It's getting to be springtime...anyone have a line on a place that rents crotch rockets? Sold mine when I moved here and not ready to buy another just yet. I know most places only rent cruisers.

When I /am/ ready to buy, thinking either the 929cc honda cbr, or the upper cc ninjas. Opinions? (I like the Gixxers, but that's just too much bike for riding on the street.)

Can't say I am into crotch rockets... but this femme loves her motorcycle.

It has been warm enough here that I am starting to pull it from the garage and get that motor purring again... getting ready when its warm enough that I can wear my halfshell rather then my fullface helmet.

But either way... it ruins my hair.

LOL...not that the wind wouldn't ruin your hair either!

Eh, I'm a full face helmet butch. I'm of the opinion that if I'm going to hit the concrete, I'd really like to not have my face scraped off along the way.

all depends on what crotch rocket you are looking for.... some of the Harley places might rent out their Buells....

I dont know much about those bikes though...

I have heard that your insurance wont be as high if you go with a honda as opposed to a ninja....

    Just food for thought....

    Thanks Cowboi!

The Buells are all right, but not my thing.

The insurance is lower because of the perception that the hondas are safer...which is bs. It's the rider, not the bike, that makes safety happen.

But I'm thinking that the hondas might offer a less rough ride than the ninja.

thats cool... I've never ridden one Myself...was just a thought... I'm a Hawg Rider....

I was just suggesting the honda's because of the lower insurance...and because the ride is smoother from what I hear... I have never actually ridden a crotch rocket... I'd kill Myself on one of those things....LOL....

It's not what you ride... its that you ride.... gotta love that freedom of the open roads....

Right on. I miss riding more than most things. I miss the freedom and the thrill of controlling the bike.

I once test drove a Buell... it was ok... I don't remember the specs.. just that it was not enough power for me, not enough crome, too much plastic, and not heavy enough for me to feel comfortable on.

I have a Honda Shadow... first bike was an old Kawasaki I rebuilt. I definately go for cruisers. And since money is a huge issue.. I had to be picky.

Have you guys seen some of the new bikes that are coming out this year? Very nice.

I gave up on being worried about my hair when I ride *LOL*... Its long.. but the riding makes me want to cut it short. Cept I think I would look stupid in short hair. So I just bind it back really good.

I don't want my face splattered either.... but the wind in my face makes it worth the risk.

    *dreaming of long winding roads*

It's always riding season here :)

Hi all... found a few months ago, then didn't have an internet connection at home again until tonight so I'm trying to catch up.

Anyone in Arizona that might be interested in getting together for some riding? I ride year round (don't own a car) so any weather suits me. I'm ride a big 'ole cruiser myself (no not a goldwing), so not into heading to Apache Junction just to see how fast I can take the twisties...was thinkin more along the lines of headin toward Sedona or maybe even that big hole in the ground up north

I'm also fairly new to AZ...only been here since last August so I'm sure there are lots of places I haven't been yet.

    Any takers?

    true.

I've been riding most of my life, and never really had a problem with anything anyone rides... 'cept maybe the "wingers"... hehe

Just popped over 12K miles since moving to Arizona last August. Shooting for 20k this year.

    What do you ride?

    Hi all!

I am in the process of starting a "family" oriented motorcyce touring company. Was wondering how much interest there would be out there. Comments/suggestions/recommendations?

    Wooo Hooooo

The weather was right and the timing was right that I finally got to pull the bike out of storage. It started right up and purred like a baby.

I can say I would be interested in riding in a group again. I do have a friend I occasionally go riding with but I miss the really long road trips that left my ass totally numb, my face tingling and my heart pounding.

I split with the old group I was with cause I got tired of being hit on by men. *shrugs* got old.

Sooooo... if ya'all are every anywhere near Nebraska... let me know and let us go ride. I still consider myself new at it even thought I have been doing it for 2 years.

Just got finished washing and polishing the bike.... think I need to go take it to "air dry"

...not that 103 isn't hot enough to dry it just sitting in the shade

Riding your own motorcycle just means you like to drive, darlin'. Doesn't have a thing to do with how girly or femme you are. :grins: Riding a motorcycle is zen for me, I can't see how it is any less for anyone else.

If you want to ride one, I strongly suggest taking the highway patrol rider's course. It cost me about $200 for three days of VERY good instruction. I already knew how to ride, but they broke a couple of bad habits and really reinforced the good ones. Find a bike that fits you, and please, PLEASE wear the gear! In my field, I am quite aware of just how many motorcycle accidents there are and the biggest factor of how well the cyclist does is whether or not they were wearing a helmet and either kevlar or leather.
So, if you wanna ride, DO IT! :Grins: It's good for the soul.

AlphaBear... thanks for your words of support. I agree... it is a very zen like experience to ride. Whether I am driving the bike, or 'riding bitch' (which I have been willing to still do on a very rare occasion).

About two years ago.. I took Harley Davidson's Riders Edge course... and learned so much more then I had from the friend who had attempted to teach me.

I have seen the effects of a bad motorcycle accident more then a few times. Can't say I would necessarily put on the leathers for a cruz around town... but always on the highway... I want at least a fighting chance at keeping some of my skin on my body.

hey... I also want to say thanks in general for this thread...

The body is an instrument which only gives off music when it is used as a body. Always an orchestra, and just as music traverses walls, so sensuality traverses the body and reaches up to ecstasy.

    You're quite welcome!

And if you don't want to wear leathers, there are some absolutely fabulous (pardon my inner fag here) armored jackets and such, including some mesh jackets that let tons of air through and are comfortable even in the summer.

    Hmm....someone stole my tag line

I'm one of the bad examples...no helmet... no jacket in the summer (ain't wearing one when it's 120 outside even if it IS mesh)... no chaps. I do wear boots and jeans when I ride though. I figure if I get into and accident on the highway, a helmet is just to preserve the head for body ID. As far as in town...well...I've lost more skin from softball than I've lost on my bike in the last 20 years or so.

*waiting for the scoldings to begin*
    Stormy~

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming, "WOW, What a Ride!"
