It seems most of the folks in the thread are around NashVegas.I am down here in BFE outside of Tullahoma and am looking for some riding or running buddies to train with or possibly do some group rides.I have a few upcoming cycling events and one triathlon scheduled for September (will work my swimming pretty much alone,it's my weakest link and it ain't pretty,but as long as I don't drown,what the hell!;) )My training partner isn't very motivated right now and it's getting fairly lonely even for a self-motivator.If anyone is interested,give me a shout! You might try the Farmer's Market downtown..it has the added attraction of being next door to the Bicentennial Mall which backs up to the State Capitol building...you can grab something to eat at the market (which has a great variety of fresh fruits/vegetables) then go sit/walk in the park which is a sort of history lesson on one end and Music City hall of fame at the other! There are towers of bells called "carillions" that play a bit of song every 30 min or so. It's one of my favorite places! If the day is pretty you can get some great pictures!
There is also a (very) small Flea Market there..but on Friday you won't find much..most people don't set up for the weekend until Friday afternoon.
You can brave Printer's Alley if you are feeling really energetic..but the traffic around that area sucks! And if you like libraries..the Main Public Library on Church Street is amazing!
There's tons of stuff to see/do around Nashville...what are you interested in?

You could easily spend the entire day shopping at Opry Mills Mall...if you head in that direction make sure you get over to see the Opryland hotel! It's got beautiful converatory gardens and lots of great restaurants! :)

Like Max said, Opryland Hotel and Oprymills are popular tourist sights. The shopping is great and the hotel beautiful.

Since you mention Country Music, the Country Music Hall of Fame is fabulous and you could see second avenue and the historic honky tonks in that area as well as maybe touring the original Rhyman Auditorium...birthplace and ancestral home of Country Music.

HI... I know this is random but Im running out of ideas so I thought Id check here to see if anyone is up for helping me out...for pay of course.
Im coming to Nashville to have some surgery and even though I had several people aranged a while ago (the insurance proces has taken over a year) ago to come with me, now none of them can... and because I have two dogs and a bird its next to impossible to bring my girlfriend.
I tried to get the doctor's office to say that I could just be by myself but they are insisting that I have someone with me at least during the daytime, for two days. Since I have exhausted just about everything I can on my end, they are recommending hiring a sitter from a local home health agency.... well if I absolutely have to, I will... but it creeps me out and makes me a little afraid of any issues they may have with "my type" (FTM), plus if Im going to pay, Id rather help out "family"...ya know...
So...if anyone is interested in basically sitting in a room with me and reminding me to take antibiotics every so many hours... Ill likely be sleeping, you can watch TV, study, whatever..... for two daytime "shifts" Ill pay $100/day.
Ill check this board again frequently, give you my email or phone whatever....
Oh this would be on Aug 3rd and Aug 4th (we could meet Aug 2nd while Im coherent)...

Ana's already there, she started her new job a couple weeks ago, and is looking for houses for us. Oye, that's a pain in the ass! So we're looking at being moved within about 3 weeks. You guys will have to come visit us....and hopefully we'll get to see you before we're gone for good...

Im coming to Nashville to have some surgery and even though I had several people aranged a while ago (the insurance proces has taken over a year) ago to come with me, now none of them can... and because I have two dogs and a bird its next to impossible to bring my girlfriend.
I tried to get the doctor's office to say that I could just be by myself but they are insisting that I have someone with me at least during the daytime, for two days. Since I have exhausted just about everything I can on my end, they are recommending hiring a sitter from a local home health agency.... well if I absolutely have to, I will... but it creeps me out and makes me a little afraid of any issues they may have with "my type" (FTM), plus if Im going to pay, Id rather help out "family"...ya know...
So...if anyone is interested in basically sitting in a room with me and reminding me to take antibiotics every so many hours... Ill likely be sleeping, you can watch TV, study, whatever..... for two daytime "shifts" Ill pay $100/day.
Ill check this board again frequently, give you my email or phone whatever....
Oh this would be on Aug 3rd and Aug 4th (we could meet Aug 2nd while Im coherent)...

just a thought...seems to me it would be cheaper to board out the dogs for a couple of days..find someone to take the bird (I bet the kennel people might help you out there) till you get home and bring your girlfriend with you? Good Luck with your surgery!

Yeah, I checked that out, but to board the dogs and find someone for the bird and a plane ticket for her to come with, plus have her use up some of her vacation turned out to be really expensive. Ive had a bad boarding experience and I wont do it again anyway......and Id rather leave me with a stranger than my dogs...lol....Thanks for the suggestion though..... and I welcome any others!

Well, I know I'm jumping into this a little late but there are plenty of "doggy Daycares" in TN that do great with animals, I understand though and I don't board mine, partly because alot of places won't accept my Greatdane because she is mixed with pitbull and my Boxer is trained therapy dog and search and rescue so she is allowed to go everywhere I go no matter what.

Does anyone know a medical supply rental place in Nashville. Am looking for a hospital table that raises and lowers and maybe a recliner that pushes all the way up to rent.
