B-F Brunch in Toronto!

Okay - so as some of you know, I'm planning a brunch on October 12th for all the Toronto B-F'ers.

It will be at Hair of The Dog on Church Street (at Wood) at 10:30 a.m.

Dress will be...whatever you want it to be! :)

so far I think there's about 10 of us.

Just an FYI, I am not certain if I am able to go yet. I should be able to give you at least 2 weeks notice though, lol, just in case we have to hang seats from the ceiling so that we can all be together!

If I do make it, I am coming from 2 hours away so I am making a weekend of it (need to do some long overdue TO shopping, and visit the bars on Saturday). So I will let you know when and where I will be (always open for suggestions *w*).

Well...I'm not from Eastern Ontario, so I can't help you out there...
If you do come, I wanted to let you know that there is a hotel, (Days Inn on College), that is about a five minute walk from where we are having Brunch....People from Toronto might have a better idea/suggestion, but after much searching it was one of the more reasonblely priced hotels, ($99/night and it's nice). Not to mention it's very close to Church street if you're interested in touring around.

Has anyone been to the Art Deco exhibit at the ROM? Thought I would take advantage of the fact that I can get in there free of charge and check it out. Sounds interesting.

Unfortunately I am not able to make the brunch on Sunday (even if I had found this in time to RSVP properly).

First of all, what a great location for such an event. Great spot to have an event where we can talk and mingle.

Secondly, wow, what a great bunch we are! It was absolutely wonderful to meet each and every one of you! I just got in from gay karaoke and spent the night telling everyone about the brunch.( And no I didn't sing, only 30 really short ppl ever get to hear that sound.) It was well worth the trip in.

I look forward to getting to know the southern Ontario community better. And for those of you who could not make it-hopefully our paths will cross in the future.

Satin and Rugged-well what can I say? Thanks for your company on Saturday night. It was an absolute pleasure to meet the both of you . You are a couple that sets the standard a little higher in my books...(more on that in a gushy email forthcoming).

It was great to see some people we had already had the priviledge of meeting and even greater to meet some new and just as wonderful people. Thanks Ani we will have a good time. Although Missus Tour and I are a bit hung over from last nites party out to the Drag show with our gay boy friends. I am actually feeling much better now, and the Missus is still a little weazy but we are going to be troupers and still go to Chickitas for a couple of hours. As for the new years not sure what is going on for getting together but I would love to do the butch/femme New Years I think it will be loads of fun, I am going to keep my eyes and ears open for any news for that night even though its still a little early, I just get so excited about these events. So, his pharoahness and I were talking about the New Year's Eve possibilities last night over dinner, and we're thinking that maybe we'll have a (semi-formal) cocktail party on New Year's Eve and that afterwards we could all go dancing somewhere...

Is that a possibility?

Alternatively, we could all go somewhere for dinner (like Hair of the Dog - I've got an "in" with the owners, and I'm sure they'd give us the upstairs room again - and they do have a very fancy 5 or 7 course meal on New Year's Eve with champagne and dessert) and then go dancing...

OR

If we have enough people we could rent something like the NOW Lounge and have our own party there...but we'd need a fair amount of people, with money up front to do that. Let me know what you all think - and of course - if anyone has any other ideas, throw them into the ring, too.

Tourboi-I had a wonderful weekend, thank you. Went to Jordan's on Saturday for a women's dance and had a blast.

Satin-hope that you had a great time at the halloween party. How did the costumes turn out?

As for the New Year's wheels that are a turning....just my .02...dinner or cocktail party sounds great before a night of dancing. The only input I have is perhaps something more public for the dancing so that single peeps could scout. Or, I will have to become more pro-active and find my own date, hehehe (working on that...;) )

I think The Hair Of The Dog sounds like a great idea for dinner. Now, for the going somewhere to go dancing..that should be pretty easy. We will be in the heart of the Village. It leaves a lot of places open for us to sample what is flowing there that night. I can see Ani's point too..single people will be left out if the dance is kept with just our group. A lot of the people that attended the Brunch were couples..very few singles. I wouldn't want to see people left out on the most wonderful part of that evening..the dancing. Well, that is my 2 cents worth. :)

Anyway - I'm taking calls on booking private spaces, and I've also talked to the GM at Hair of the Dog about our group descending upon them for dinner...

Hy's willing to provide before dinner cocktails starting at 7:30, a 3, 4, or 5 course meal (with a fixed price point) and have us out of there by 11:00 p.m. in order for us to go dancing elsewhere. We will have to pay in advance though to hold the reservation.

I've had the fixed price meal on New Years and it was amazing! BTW, last year, I ordered the $50. meal (the medium range), and upped it to the $65. meal when I got there because it looked so amazing - and it was!

Keep the ideas coming in.

Just had a thought and was wanting everyone's opinion. Since Kitten and Jared are moving in together a few days before the Dinner/Pool ..I thought that Hostess/Housewarming gifts would be nice. It is a nice way to say thank you for setting up these wonderful events and taking the time to ensure our comfort. Plus, it is always classy to give a housewarming gift to someone you know that is moving into a new home. Now, I am not saying that we have to.. and those that don't wish to, need not. I like your ideas KitKat, and think we should put our heads together for the January BF event, which I would like to be a progressive dinner-style evening.

Whoever wants to play pool on the 22nd will do so, (and I will organize a scheudle of players and rounds if there are a lot of players), but will leave others free to chat and socialize if they don't wish to play pool. However, prizes for the top three winners is a great idea, and I'll have to put some thought into coming up with some good ones. :)

I've been doing some research into booking private events, and for a group our size, the costs are prohibitive.

I also called around to several restaurants, and not many (and certainly not very many in the Village) are willing to book a group as large as ours for dinner on New Years Eve.

However, Hair of the Dog has offered us a prix fixe meal including appetizer and desert, one cocktail, champagne toast and your choice of tiara or top hat party favour at a range of prices (the price goes up with the elaborateness of the meal). The tables will be covered with white and black linens and be appropriately decorated.

If we choose Hair of the Dog, (or another venue), we can then go to a dance like the Chickitas New Year's Eve Bash, or another of our choice.

We can talk about it more on the 22nd, but be prepared to make a decision soon.
BTW, if this group takes off, I think we can begin to prepare ourselves for the first Toronto Slut Night in the late spring!
