Ok So this is actually one I've wanted since middle school but was scared shit my parents might do something to me. Mom doesn't really care anymore and I don't live with my dad thank god. All he does is groan when I get a "present" at the tattoo parlor. This is the year for piercings so far I've had 2 in the last 6 months. And again I want another. They are so effin addicting. Now I'm really wanting to get my tongue pierced and I like pain some times but just how bad is this going to hurt. I heard from someone it was worse then natural labor. But I'd like to hear your opinions I know it's only for a few moments and then it's done. But still want to know what I'm getting myself into.

bwahahahahahaha ummm I haven't done natural child birth, but all I have to say is that friend must have had the easiest delivery in the history of birthing.

I have had my tongue pierced for 7 or 8 years now...Here's how it was for me. First, I got my piercing pretty far back on my tongue because I worked in an office and didn't want it showing, affecting my speach, or chiping my teeth. The tongue is thicker as it goes back...obviously. The piercing part didn't hurt much, really not hardly anything. The healing however was the worse part...here's why....

First, being the thickest part of the tongue and the natural swelling that will occur...the piercing barbell wasn't long enough to accomodate, so I develoveped a pressure sore. I still didn't take it out, I just dealt with it. Second....like a dumbass, the night I got it pierced I ate a regular meal at the chinese place with lots of crunchy/hard foods. Which irritated it and made the sweling worse than it probably would have been. I ate alot of ice chips to try to make the swelling go down.

So, my recomendation.....start sucking ice immediately. Baby it by eating soft foods for a couple of days. Don't give oral sex until it's healed.

But the piercing itself wasn't bad at all.

Maybe different people have differing pain thresholds. :)

I took my niece, who was 17, and she didn't even flinch. :|

Healing was longer..and watch out for spicy foods while it heals. (y)

When I had mine pierced, it had stopped hurting by the time I got out of the chair and got my popsicle.

The healing, however, was brutal. I hated, absolutely hated, when I first woke up in the morning for about 2 wks. On top of that, I accidently tore the piercing in my sleep one night so it took a bit longer to heal.

The insides of my gums were tender for about 2 wks. Kissing was okay. No oral for a month for me, and then was limited.

So I was all jazzed up to get my piercing today. So I drive over to the place and I find out it's closed. Sucky, but I hope to get it done tomorrow after my dance class.

So I went to a different piercer today and actually got it done. it was nothing. Didn't really hurt at all. Now I'll wait until my month of healing is over and switch the jewelry to something that's no going to bang up my teeth.
