My major is English, and after I get done with that I'm going to get certified in secondary education so I can one day teach high school English. How about the rest of the college student here? What's your major?

I started out an English major. Then changed to Philosophy. Then to Textiles. Then to Biology. Then back to English - minored in Biology. Dropped out a few times in there. Graduated in 2004.

I started out as an Accounting/Finance/Management major and then changed to Sociology. Withing a month I started asking myself what the hell I was gonna do with a BA in Soci, so now I'm a History w/ a minor in Spanish.

Wow, I did a major 180 from business to liberal arts.

I hope it's okay for a former college student to respond. :) It sounds like you're on a practical path. Do you love what you're doing? Do you think you'll love teaching? It's important to be passionate about your endeavors.

I have a BFA in Dramatic Writing, and an MA and PhD ABD in Performance Studies -- all from NYU. Do I use them specifically? No, I'm a nonfiction editor and writer, but learning what I did taught me new ways to view the world.

College is such an incredible and wonderful privilege. I didn't go until I was in my 30s. Take advantage of it.

BFA in Music Theater (performance--yes, I can tap dance!)

Now I am getting an MBA in marketing...I am about 6 months to getting my Masters' hood...

While I don't work in the performing arts, I can honestly say I use my acting skills EVERY day...;)

Since I was little I've always had a love of books, and grammar. As a child growing up I was always telling people the correct way to say things, and living in the south I had the opportuinity to do that ALOT. When I was younger I had all the typical dream jobs picked out; soilder, house painter, bouncer, boxer.... okay, maybe the typical dream jobs for a future butch girl, but that's besides the point. Once I was in high school, and was finally in a setting where I could say how I felt about something I had read, even if still it was somewhat censoured, I knew that I wanted nothing more than to teach at the highschool level. I can't imagine any other profession giving me as much pleasure in life as teaching will. Except maybe participent in a test group for swim suits. ;)
