Love is in the air
Everywhere I look around
Love is in the air
Every sight and every sound
And I don't know if I'm being foolish
Don't know if I'm being wise
But it's something that I must believe in
And it's there when I look in your eyes
Love is in the air
In the whisper of the trees
Love is in the air
In the thunder of the sea
And I don't know if I'm just dreaming
Don't know if I feel sane
But it's something that I must believe in
And it's there when you call out my name
(Chorus)
Love is in the air
Love is in the air
Oh oh oh
Oh oh oh
Love is in the air
In the rising of the sun
Love is in the air
When the day is nearly done
And I don't know if you're an illusion
Don't know if I see it true
But you're something that I must believe in
And you're there when I reach out for you
Love is in the air
Every sight and every sound
And I don't know if I'm being foolish
Don't know if I'm being wise But it's something that I must believe in
And it's there when I look in your eyes

It may be hard to imagine, but whether you live in the country or the city, you have the power to help conserve buthc habitat in even the most remote reaches of Canada’s Home Depots. There are over 300,000 butches in Canada (there is an extensive butch tagging process held in early spring), but many subspecies, including soft butch populations, are in trouble because of the closing of Canadian Tire stores, habitat loss due to the closing of many bars and alteration (ouch).
MoseyoMosey
05-04-2006, 05:54 PM
Although it is not widely known...there has been a notably reduction in the population of plaid shirt garbed butches *sigh* Only one was tagged this spring.
SpinxxieFairy
05-04-2006, 06:09 PM
The sub species of the Mulletted Canadian Butch has been receeding due to enhanced fashion tips from the increasing visible Femme - obvious pressure on this sub species is causing it to adapt to a new leaner environment :)

would looooove to know what it takes to lure them out of the shrubbery in Montreal. I mean, not that i'm looking to date ( already happy in that respect ) but it would be nice to get to meet more butches and femmes in this area.
Montreal seems to me to be more anemic as far as having a vibrant or at least occasional B/f community. Wonder if it has anything to do with language and culture, ummm?

Where are you fairies hunting this weekend? so I can strategically position myself lol.

Geez I turn my back to go set up the umbrellas on the patio and everyone shows up. *quickly filling on all the drink orders and pouring myself a draft from the tap*
I am glad you enjoyed the lilacs. I have to say on my walk to work in the morning I pass this house that has wisteria vines covering the front porch. The wisteria is now in bloom and I have stopped everyday this week to marvel at the purply pink flowers cascading like clusters of grapes. With the mix of the grey tendrils it looks like purple smoke. It is amazing.
Really I am in from mowing the lawn before the rain expected tonight and the beer tastes pretty good. Have a great evening ~waving~

Hey back at ya Sistah,
Well, so far, little demonstrated interest in getting something going for Pride week in Montreal ( july 30 --- august 6 ). With all the events and activities going on at that time, i was imagining just how much more fun it would be for B/fer's to be out and in your face and enjoying themselves to the hilt.
But i am for real ... anyone wanting to have a B/f day or evening in the company of other B/er's at that time, please let this femme know.

My tooth is doing ok...it is my jaw that hurts. This was part 2 of the root canal...the temporary filling was removed and a post put in and then the permanent filling...but this isnt the end... no he wants to eventually put a crown on top eventually.
As to being a dentist wuss I raise my hand and admit I am not excited about trips to the dentist lol ... I try and zone out when I am in the dentist chair.

I broke the carafe to my coffeemaker the other day. I shed a little tear. This morning I hauled out the pyrex coffee maker that I purchased at a garage sale last summer. An amazing purchase. A Corningware glass percolater still in its original packaging must be minimum 40 years old never used. I lovingly measured out the coffee and filled it with water. I watched in awe as the bubbles formed and rushed to the top to dribble thru the coffee grounds. Damn what a good cup of coffee. Mmmm mmm good. Pouring everyone a cup.

I watched in awe as the bubbles formed and rushed to the top to dribble thru the coffee grounds. Damn what a good cup of coffee. Mmmm mmm good. Pouring everyone a cup.
LOL! They DO make a damn good cup of coffee!!! ;) We have one too! Being the coffee whores that Wwe are, Wwe actually have quite a few different coffee making 'appartus' around...including this totally crazy space age star trek looking coffee machine that does everything but make your bed for you in morning...but the most used and enjoyed is our totally awesome retro corningware percolater! Enjoy yours! it was an awesome find! i can't remember where we got ours....i think it was in with a lot of mixing bowls and pyrex type stuff at an auction.

Not drinking coffee doesn't make you boring! lol Just means you are immune to the secret ingredient put in Tim Horton's coffee. *reporting you to the big T* :) *
Oh and don't ask me what the secret ingredient is I don't know. If I did they'd have to kill me. Right now they are just happy slowly draining my wallet of $1.69 every morning. See what your saving Rez Lez!
Just checking out the weathernetwork.com. Tomorrow looks like it is going to be nice and sunny. Now they tell me after I have been outside drying the grass off with my knees (pulling weedies) ugh. So I am heading off to look at some plant material before the big rush tomorrow morning.

What is that anyway - an extra large?
I like the hot smoothies they have - although I haven't tried all the flavours.
Mo - how's the gardening going?

Hey Rez Lez your right $1.69 is an extra large and no donuts to munch. Hot smoothies hmmm I haven't tried one of those yet. My mother though is hooked on them.
My garden ... I bought this house last year. It is about 80 years old. For an old house I am amazed that it came with very little plant material. I bought some plants yesterday but plants are not cheap so it is going to be an on going project. I am looking for free stuff lol. One of the women at work is going to give me a butterfly bush.
When my ex and I separated we had to go through the whole separation agreement thing to deal with our house, money, possessions, pets yada yada. We were nice to each other and have remained good friends. My ex agreed to share some plant material with me, so this morning I was at the old place digging out a few plants. Right now I am focusing on the front garden and the side garden at the rear which is shady. I love the shade so I have been planting hostas (about 6 different types), ferns (3 kinds), coleus, iris, columbine, bleeding hearts, and fox glove. Out front I planted lilies, hollyhock, batchlor buttons, shasta daisies, mums and petunias. In a sunny patch of my rear garden I have planted some tulips, daffodils, dhalias and canna lilies.
After planting this afternoon I rewarded myself with a nice cold Corona with a lime and a time out on the deck. Man I wish I had someone special to rub some A535 on my sore spots.
So Rez Lez I noticed our birthdays are the same whats up with that eh...lol. So what are you up to in Toronto?

I was thinking of going down to the Village but I've opted to veg out in front of the tv instead. Looks like I'll be geeking out to LOTR DVDs or CSI.
Your garden sounds like it's going to turn out great. I've got a black thumb and don't even want to take a risk with artificial plants!
Today I just went to National Sports and got a pair of shorts, a yoga mat and a new baseball cap. My mom hates my fave hat (an army green Roots one) so I thought I'd invest in a new one. The mat is for when I do my stretching exercises for my martial arts class. The shorts I got just 'cause I liked them - they're loose red nylon ones but have little stretchy shorts under them. Be good for walking in.
Tomorrow morning I'm gonna head down to The Running Room and check out their clinics. I've signed up for a 5K fundraiser but it isn't until the fall. I think I'll see if I can get some training in and maybe do some other fundraisers before October.
I have to work on Monday so it's going to be a quiet weekend for me. Might go to Brantford tomorrow to visit a friend but I'm not sure yet.

Good afternoon everyone
Obviously I am back from Thunder Bay. The weather was wonderful the entire time. I have to say my favourite thing was the smell of the pine and spruce trees. It brought back memories of working in the forest. I am working on downloading some pictures from my camera and hopefully posting them in the gallery.
Looks like London had a lot of rain while I was gone so the plants I put in didn't suffer from lack of attention.
Apologies AlphaFaery I wasn't here to tend bar and serve you that Mimosa you requested earlier in the week. *opening a vodka cooler* I hope this cooler wets your whistle on this gorgeous Saturday afternoon. Shall I open the bbq and make you a baked potato and grilled steak to go with it?

I spent the weekend buying plants, planting plants and mowing the lawn. I am starting from scratch with my landscaping. I have never had any luck with peonies but that hasn't stopped me from trying as I just planted a yellow peony. Peonies smell yummy. I really love the smell of flowers and perfume. Okay does the smell of stargazer lilies remind anyone of noxema? I just love that smell...lol ok that must be my freaky aquarian side coming out.

Wow. I am surprised that there are so many prairie folk on this board! I am originally from Moose Jaw and single. I say originally cuz I left in 1997 to look for femmes. I found some femmes, but not any single ones....and I certainly have never dated any Canadian femmes! Like many people on this board, I have had to, out of pure neccessity, pursue cross-border dating...so it looks like we are all dating Stateside and ignoring one another, which is a nice little synopsis of Can-US relations. Anyhoo, pleased to meet all of you. I will be based in Toronto for the summer and I am really looking forward to meeting up with single Canadian femmes!!!! It seems so not real even as I type it. --Kick. ps. I am 33, non-smoker, no drugs....into politics, travel, history, reading...hate tv.....etc etc etc etc

Im not single, in fact quite the opposite, Im one lucky man, Married to a wonderful wonderful woman.
However I know TONNS of single FTMs, butches and femmes here in Vancouver that are into the dynamic, they just dont go online or waste thier time in bars or drama scenes. Its nice to be friends with single people who dont mind being that way, arent hell bent in intruding into a relationship, and are healthy. Im very lucky and blessed to have the people I do in my life.
Perhaps I should push them a bit harder to come on this site. Its not often you find decent people like the ones Ive connected with. I love our get-togethers. Our dinners, our hikes, going to see movies, jamming on our guitars, suportting eachother through life. The thing is, alot of the FTMs I know, identify as straight men, and in fact have dated/been with straight women. Its not often you find a breed of transguys like this. hehe I lucked out too....my wife is straight, and never been with a woman and has never had a transguy before me. Its quite fullfilling!

Awesome. I really *should* enlist some brothers to help me with my search:) Why didn't I think of that before?? I want to take you guys out for cocktails when I get to TO!!
Rez, I will be house-sitting in Forest Hill, near Avenue Rd and Eglinton.
Ryan, I do not pass as a man, though I think that would be very sweet indeed. I am basically a big butch in a crewcut...ftm-identified but don't mind the moniker butch at all, since that is how the straight world perceives me. Having said all of that, I will only date femmes who are proudly femme-identified....however, this is just me being stubborn with my politics, so if I start creeping up on 40 and I am still single, I will seriously start to expand my dating circle. I really have nothing against straight women, anyway, and have never really thought about why I wouldn't date one except that it somehow feels 'closeted'...anything is possible!! I would really like to hear more about your experiences making the jump to straight women. Sounds interesting!!!!
RyanCGY
06-08-2006, 09:35 PM
Howdy kick-stand :)
I thought it would be like being closeted for me....in fact its become quite the opposite. As being a man who wantsd to be with a woman, I guess Ive always adentified as a straight guy. Before my wife and i got together, I had a few encounters with bioguys who knew I had once been a female but were unable to view me as anything but a man. Which I guess in a sense that would mean Im bisexual. I certainly do get excited at the thought of a bioman, however, I have happily made my vows to the woman Im with now.
Falling in love with her was a big suprise for me. She knew I had been a female at one point in my life, however had never known me as such, and has gotten to know me as male, and sees me as such. Her exact words are "I see you as a man, not a woman, not a transguy, but a man". You know, at first it was a bit awkward, as I thought that upon removing my pants, she would think different. However she did not. My cock has grown considerably over the last two years to the point where I can actually penetrate her. This is even WITHOUT bottom surgery! I now have an extremely hairy chest, and a fuzzy back and she just loves it. I had dated a few straight women before her. Even before being on testosterone, like 9 years ago, I met a woman who is straight, and she could only see me as male then too and her and I had a fling. We are still in contact, however now are best friends. She married a wonderful man and has given birth to a beautiful boy, who is now 4. He is my nephew and her and I have established a very close brother/sister relationship. Shes always supported my decision to live as a man. And has only ever seen me as such.
Being with a straight woman has helped me learn many many things about being a man that I NEVER in a million years could have learned by being with queer women. She has been able to teach me and point out little things that men normally do when it comes to mannerisms, ways of speaking, etc that biomen do, that alot of tguys dont get to pick up on.
I guess other than this site, and the few people who know me in person that know Ive transitioned....I live a very stealth life. I dont tell people. I DO come to this site to network about trans medical issues a bit and help other Tguys who may need a friend or help being pointed in the right direction. For me, being with a straight woman and in a heterosexual marraige has been freeing for me. It doesnt feel like being in the closet at all, as I love women, and I feel I am a man. I havent transitioned to be an 'ftm' or a 'transguy' or a 'transsexual'. For me, transitioning has meant I become a Male. And living as such is a liberating experience. If I had to live as a woman, or be known by everyone in my life as a 'tguy' or 'ftm', I would feel VERY in the closet with my manhood. Im not saying all transguys need to live this way, Im just saying its whats ben righ tfor me. I have many male friends who were once women that now live stealth lives as gay men, straight men...etc.
Any other questions, feel free to PM me :)

Evening everyone! Sorry I haven't been back since my first post but it's just a crazy time of year for me and work right now.
It's funny that some people have mentioned importing femmes. I'm originally from Ontario, then later BC. I ended up meeting my butch on the net when I was still in Vancouver, and when I came out to Saskatchewan to visit her I was always greeted with "Oh nice to meet you......so where are YOU from". Then they proceeded to tease me about being the latest “import”. I was annoyed at first but later understood the necessity of searching outside ones own province. I know there are self identified femmes out here but most are either not into butches, or don't seem to be a femme the same way that I am. And don’t get me wrong I love the diversity in my community, however, I would love to meet more "heals, lipstick and cleavage" femmes like me especially around my age. And I would have LOVED (when I was single) to have meet more butches my age too! But I guess it just wasn’t in the cards.
Anyways, I’m done now……..just wanted to share my experience and rant a little. So thanks for the opportunity. Oh and by the way I would LOVE one of those shirts!

I agree with Kitten. We need to SERIOUSLY compile a list of single Butches in the GTA.
And then we can sort the list according to grooming habits, musical interests, last book they read, etc.

Like I said...Lotsa butches and femmes and ftms are here...I know that for a fact....Were moreso in churches, doing dinner parties, hiking...etc....theyre just not online or in bars ;)
PS Bedhead and Hot-Blonde....Sorry I couldnt make it today to steeps. I got some much needed sleep. My wife and I both woke up at 530 pm :s Otherwise we would have been there! Shes busy with work and overtime, Im busy with writing, recording, mixing, medical tests, peparing for surgery, getting my finances in order so Ginny can use my account while im laid up...I was just out of energy and IN PAIN!
So...please? Forgive? Maybe coffee closer to home...we live on the west side of denman and my studio is more downtown (which I only use for music/writing and sometimes to sleep if I need space...lol) so maybe blenz on denman and nelson? or even we could hit Ambrozia for some live music!
Another Idea, is on the 16th, My old college instructor Jill Newman is playing at The Western Front. It would be a cool gig to see. Shes a lesbian and this events for a good cause. Jill is an amazing musician...very blues/rock, awesome stage presence. Seen her live before...it was wonderful!
Heres Jills Website : http://jillnewman.net/index.html
And click here and scroll down to find out more about the event! http://www.soundsandfuries.com/concerts
Cheers!

Hey all! Not so single femme here in BC but I do have single butch and femme friends scratching their heads and wondering where the community is! I'll most likely be helping out at pride since one of my closest friends is VP for Pride Vancouver.
Ryan, my sis just announced to me she's coming to crash on my couch :| so next week won't work for us and Jay is gone the week after that but do you want to get together that weekend anyways (june 24 or 25th)?? It'd be great to see you and the sweetie finally! Give me a holler or I'll call you and we'll play phone tag!
*waving to the rest of the canucks* great to see all of us connecting here! Hope you're all doing well and any in my neck of the woods, we should hook up sometime for the summer and do some beach things or barbeques etc!

Oooh. That is a very good question, Kitten. When does Hav take place? Well, it is kind of set indiscrimiately in the future...or perhaps in a parallel universe. Morris never explicity states when, nor does she explicitly map out the location on the African continent. Riding these kinds of boundaries comes naturally to Morris, who bends categories like plastercine.
What's the last book you read, Kit?

That's my Princess Pottymouth! You don't miss a thing.// Truth be told, I am still in the process of trying to forget the book I over the weekend, a heinous work called Bridging English, designed for lit teachers who are making the transition from teaching reading skills to teaching writing skills. BLAH!! Current read: 2 back issues of People and Spin Magazine that I just picked up at the local bar (Paris Hilton and Death Cab For Cutie, respectively). It says that Paris has a tattoo of a tiara on her upper arm...did anyone else know that??

I just finished "As Meat Loves Salt" - a historical fiction piece set in England in the mid 1700's about two men and their relationship. Very dark - a bit disturbing, interesting from a historical point of view and with some intense sexual scenes between the two men as well as one very intense hetero scene.
It was - unexpected.

Sometimes I openly wonder if 'healthy' is just the new word that we throw around in place of 'normal'....so healthy is the new normal, and 40 is the new 30....and brown is the new black. Also, bruises are the new makeup. Ok, joking on that last line there...hehehheheheheh(6)

I am looking for someone who is not actively in an addiction - must be on the wagon for at least 3 years if that is an issue. Non-possessive, a lil jealous is okay, control is not. Can manage most crap in carry-on luggage, but not a whole luggage set. Nothing wrong with a past, because I have had my own issues in the past, but is working on a healthy resolution, and I am not looking for an instant relationship and hope the person feels the same way. I am feeling a lil grilled, so that is all I will post.

*WOOT*
That would ROCK! You guys could come camping with us and our friends, maybe join us for an evening of music at the Chan Center at UBC (We recently went to see the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet preform there....it was absolutely devine! I was in a tie, my lady was dolled up in her heels and skirt, we went to milestones by UBC after for dinner....) Dude, it would be so nice to have more like-minded 'couples friends' here...too many people just want to hang out in a club, drink beer, and play pool....Used to be like that but its just NOT stimulating, although I dont min dit if people around me drink, provided they are in control of thier booze. Ive achieved sobriety, have friends that are careful with alcohol, and/or dont need it and dont like getting buzzed and I want to maintain that.
soooooooooooo
Maybe you can come with us to the art gallery (Were members), could catch the Ballet or a good play at the Q n E (Queen Elizabeth Theatre)....Also, Im getting into acting as well come the fall, I'll be auditioning for a few Vancouver Theatre orgz. (And no, not orgies....although theatrical orgies could prove to be entertaining, no?) lol
(Dont worry....Im just as quirky...and oh yeah.....Femme_Professional says hello! Shes living in Grande Prairie AB of all places!!!lol)

so Tour, then you two will be 3 provinces away from me instead of 1....hmmmm, not liking the sound of this. What happens when I move back to Ontario, it will be worse. I know, I know, you can't make such decisions based on what works for me but just think about it, k, you know I'm the only person who gets the biggest kick out of your crazy stories no matter how many times you tell them to me. ;)
so I don't want to digress from the original intention of this thread so I'll add....
Where the heck are the single sexy butches in Canada? I am convinced there is a shortage....

Nothing wrong with networking for us hitched folk!
I just learned from a friend of mine that back home in winnipeg it was plus friggin 40 today with the humidity, I could so never go back to that. You sit, and you friggin sweat. As for thunderstorms, Ive lived in Manitoba, Alberta, BC and even did a term in LA...now THAT city is given way more credit that what its worth. Manitoba by far has the BEST storms Ive seen....Were talking big black mean clouds and evil lightning.....Ive heard Ontario is the same way!
And thank the wonderful Lord I dont have to tolerate the complete opposite in winter anymore. -40 with windchill? No thank you. Tourboi (Must I rebump the old Brrrrr...chill thread??? Remember that one? lol), Blue, save your frozen butts...! (Unless you secretly love mosquitoes and frostbite ;) )
Its not overrated here. You just have to know where to look :) And then, it's so beautiful...each place in this world is what you make it. yes, Even winnipeg has its upside...I think I just forgot what it was...lol Cheap rents??

You where teasing SpinixxFairy....no worries...Ryan as for Van your right its a place and what you make of it is all that counts. Funny thing about thunderstorms though. Our house was hit by lighting the other day and left a big black hole in the roof that covers the porch. From my bedroom out of the window you can see the black hole chared like a bbq coil...and it has taken off the eves trof<=not sure if I spelt that right however, it is seperating from the house...But i would miss the thunderstorms that is one thing I would miss about Ontario..but change is good as they say right? Anyways no decisions for awhie, but you will be one of the first to know when a decison is made. Oh btw how is employment out that way??? Tour boi

Hey everyone! Good to see you CanadianFTM, i'm from Calgary originally and now living the high life in usually sunny Vancouver!
Just checking in to see if any of you canucks will be coming into town for Pride and/or if the locals want to meet up for any of the events? I'm for sure going to the Pride Picnic and a few of us are getting together for the Gay Day at the PNE (our local amusement park) and it'd be great to meet up with a bunch of you to show our queer butch/femme/trans fabulousness at the parade! Let me know!

Hi Everyone!
I'm not sure if this is really the right place to be posting, but the "Springtime" thread that Tourboi started seems to have died :-)
I wanted to introduce myself to you fellow Canucks :) I've been around the B/F.com community a bit, but haven't really posted in the Canadian threads...
I'm wondering what's going on in B/F land in both the city (Toronto) and elsewhere.... I think there used to be a group in Ontario, but it disbanded(?) It would be nice to find some community in the Toronto/Ontario area - not for dating, but in order to meet some really great femmes and butches (and I *know* you're out there :-) I've been told by some people that the butch/femme community here is huge - which I truly haven't seen, myself!
Cheers, all...

Hey Everyone :-)
I thought I'd post about this in this thread as well.... A few of us Toronto femmes and butches have been talking about getting together. There's been talk of a more official meeting in October, but some of us are impatient!
So, we're thinking of meeting up for coffee or pool sometime next week, people's schedules permitting.
To make this a bit easier, I'm suggesting that people PM me if they're interested in this. We can work out the rest from there.
O.k, that it - As you were! ;)
Cheers,

I love to hike.....Am gettin prepped for a year long film im shooting for a documentary. Im the key focus of this film and it will be ptched to Discovery/CTV/CBC/The Learning Channel/here in van my face is going to be plastered all over bus stops, bullitan boards and some commercials. Im singing a year long contract so my time will be busy.
On another note, I like to hite, Im writing a book. For another side project Im also looking to interview more songwriters and poeple who play either guitar (Acousitic and electric, one or the other Doesnt matter to me) Bass, drums, and I would like an inclusion of flute players, madolins, autoharps and whatever you can think of. This new band will of corse be in tghe Celtic Contempoprary category.
