I was not sure were to put this, but felt it necessary to (paraphrasing Rhon) exit with dignity and grace and blow a kiss as I close the door. I have had some very thought provoking discussions here, and I deeply appreciate the intelligence and bravery of our queer people. It's been engaging and worthwhile.
However, my health has taken an unfortunate turn. I need to step away from the computer to focus my energies elsewhere.
May you all find what you are looking for in this life. (And may you assume the best about each other in your communications here.)

Your presence here will most certainly be missed, and I hope this time away from us renews you.

You are such a wise sage that I am hesitant to offer you advice. I know you are taking all the care of yourself that you need, and that you will continue to take every and any steps necessary to return to a place of full health.

Sorry to hear of this "unfortunate turn"... You are wise to be selective about where your energies go. Sending white light your way to you and yours.
Take care and remember we will always value what you have given so freely of your true self. As it has been said already very eloquently, you have always been an asset to our community and we will never forget that.

Local or not, please light candles for the healing of all people with life threatening illnesses and for the ones who love them. And, if you would, say a prayer for our polluted planet, that she again be honored by humanity and returned to healthy balance.

Be good to yourself, because in the end that is all that is ever really left...yes?
But, also remember...that in order for your physical health to be all that it can possibly be under any circumstances, your social health must continue to flourish...please come back in here once in a while, in the interim of your treatments, etc..., just to make yourself smile!
It can be counter-productive, the loss of all sources that make you smile...at times, more debilitating than the illness itself.
I speak from the perpective of personal experience...

Thank you so much, all of you, for replying. It's easy to feel invisible at times, and I'm glad to have proof that's not the case.
I love Topdaddy's sig line: The difference between fiction and reality? Fiction has to make sense. That's the freakin' truth. Write it down and read it every morning.
I have decided to honor my inner drag queen this time around, so there is one favor local folks can do for me after all: Let me know if you find a good local source of fabulous wigs. In particular, I'm wanting blonde dreads, long auburn hair, and maybe some jingly Egyptian scarves to twist around my head.
