For the life of me
I cannot find her
Turning
Moving
I open my eyes to my fears
Squinting
Focusing
I blink back the tears
Straining
Complaining
My heart groans deeply
Thumping
Beating
I ache completely
Wanting
Wasting
Death is alive in me
And
I cannot find her
For the life of me

Thank you, Arwen. I was just feeling particularly lonely and down a couple of days ago and that just kind of came out. I don't write poetry and don't know anything about writing it. So, thanks, I appreciate your words.

my eyes to my fears

is much more telling. You may not consider yourself a 'writer' but you articulate yourself well through words!

The trick to writing poetry is to just open yourself up and let it fall out on the paper.

Then you rearrange the sentences until you like the rhythm of the thing.

Only those who have known lonely can offer great love and emotion to others. How sad life would be never to have known the crush of loneliness. For I feel, if one has not, no true appreciation of anyone or anything can be felt. I love this poem MastyrBoots. Thank you for sharing it with us.(f)

I agree, DQ. How can one offer compassion and/or understanding unless that one has been there and done (or felt) that? We grow our life-muscles through adversity. My own tears water the seeds yet to grow in my life. After the rain, life spring up.
