Damn, it looks like we'll miss that. I think we have to be back at the airport at dinnertime the first Saturday in January. We're only in BC for eight days, from Saturday Dec. 28 til January 4. And I'm not even sure when we'll make it to Vancouver, but probably Jan. 2.

Oh, I wish we were moving there at the end of the month! Actually we will be moving to Kamloops at the end of May. After that, we should be spending lots of time in Vancouver. Another Lovely Brunch!!!

I would, however, like to suggest the time be later for the next one on Sun, Jan 5. I suggest we make it for Noon or One. Two reasons... 1) so the people who live much father out don't have to get up so damn early and 2) so those who go get plowed at club 23 west (and you know who you are ~ finger waggle) on sat night can drag their hung over ass in for a late breckie (I've heard plenty of whining that "11am is too early!")

so I'm suggeting we make is later for those who would appreciate a later hour. What say people?

OK B-Fers!!

I'm organizing a B-F dinner and event night on Jan 10th. I think we all agreed on Greek food being the most flexible for people's dietary limitations.

I have some butch and femme freinds coming up from LA, Seattle and over from Vancouver Island for that night.

So, I'm interested in finding who is interested in having dinner and then making it to a show afterwards? I believe my friend from victoria (if you are lurking PantyTwist please do chime in) is going to a "show" put on by pals... I think it's femme related but don't quote me on that...

I'll be getting in touch with her tomorrow night to find out details.
When I find out the what where when of it all I'll post it.

But I would LOVE it if I could see some enthusiasm shown in attenting a dinner/show/or whatever that is butch-femme focused in vancouver.

and spreading the word would be really nice as I know a many people don't come into the forum and it's hard for people to navigate here if they aren't used to it.

we wont be making it after all....Jeannafann and I feel with her going back to Victoria and trying to take my Christmas tree to the Newton Christmas Tree burning Event ...a volunteer event put on by firedept to get rid of your xmas tree only between 12-3 pm on Sunday...we will be too rushed.....that we will be rushing it to come into Vancouver and then go back out to Tswassen so she can catch ferry. We will have to make the next brunch. Will there be a February one. She comes out every other weekend on weekends that she flex's ..she is a government weekend so flex's every other Friday. Will be out on 10th and so on and so forth....

Have a great time and raise a few for us...we will try to make the next one. Just not enough time in the damn day to fit it all in. Seems to be that way...it never rains it pours.....

Ok peeps...

I'm trying to get some people together for a dinner on Fri. 10th
GreenEyed Butch and Nightlen are coming up to visit and I'm inviting some local pals I know from "the hood"... so those who wish to come along (biscuit, mewmew, killer, AJ would love to see you all... the brunches have been great!)

We had origionally thought of greekfood but the restuarant suggested doesn't seem to be in the phonebook (thank you bisquit) so I'm going to suggest The Latin Quarter, it's middle of the road pricing, tapas (a la carte so things can be shared inexpensively), lots of veggie dishes, great sangria and very nice atmosphere. It's on the drive right by grandview park and close to get down town for drinks afterwards, should we so choose to do so.

If anyone has any other suggestions for a restaurant please speak up...

A suggestion for drinks afterwards would be great too... Other than the heritage house hotel Lounge, which is the only place I know that serves half decently mixed drinks, queer and not too expensive... however I'm not sure what it's like on a fri.

No, unfortunately sat. nights are the only woman only events in this town.

Commercial drive, if you go to about kitchener, there is a park across from Havana and Fet's and Mecca. There's always tons of kids in it screaming and running around with no undies and people playing bongos. Cute Dyke cops work there at the community station...

just a couple stores south is The Latin Quarter. Red and white. They have cute little red and white checked table cloths, it's always packed, live music the huge windows open up in the summer and people somtimes salsa on the sidewalk outside as they walk past (ok well I do)... it's a great place. Very good oysters, and I'm an oyster snob.

I've checked the extra west and there is no women's night or events happening that night. Unfortunately GEB and Nightlen have to leave the next morning otherwise I would have it on a sat night...

no... that's on the other side of the park, North side. That's "Santo's Tapas" a blue and white tappas bar with equally good atmosphere but more expensive and less veggie plates, although they make a damn fine quail. Latin Quarter is South Side of the park.

I've had family get togethers at this place and reserved for 10 people before. They make room for large parties.

My friend's show was changed, it's in victoria now. We weren't going to see a movie, it was a production put on by femmes, I'm not sure of the content. SO now we'd just be going out for drinks afterwards.

I'm just organizing a dinner to show hopitality to GEB and nightlen and an excuse to get some people together.

Thank you all for showing up and making the eve the divine experience it was! The food was AMAZING as always, the sangria was *perfect* (well a bit strong but I noticed we all had a good giggle), everyone looked lovely, the convo was meaty as usual and the music was great! I loved the dancing between the tables later in the evening...

I had *such* a good time last night!!!!!! I so needed a decedent, relaxed eve full of good convo, great food, latin beats...

the quail I had was great, even if it was so rich I couldn't finish it.

glad everyone had a great time,we ended accepting a dinner invite to old friends of mine out in Port Moody and I was anxious for them to meet my grrl friend. We had some exciting news for them and it was a big night so we decided to accept that invite.

I will see if we can come;since the earlier time makes things easier for us though we are hosting a party the night before so its no definite for sure. Depends upon how pooped we are. Getting long in the tooth now and do not recover as well the night after. Looks like my gf is 98/5% sure of a lateral transfer , we are just waiting for union approval and then she will be over on this side of the water. Then hopefully we can become a regular feature of these brunches as she will not be running to make a ferry on Sunday which is why we cannot always committ to coming on Sundays...this Sunday included. However, will ask her how she feels as would love to see you all. This Sunday would have been good as I was on my own/she did not flex and stayed home to pack :s so would have loved to come in and meet some of you for (c) ...oh well next time...not sure if I figured out from messages...where this event is taking place....

sounds like a plan..probably we would be bringing four including myself ,my partner and one other butch/femme couple. I'm here to post about the drag show that BB and I went to...

Fist of all a big huge (k) to BB for being such an incredible gentlmyn!

well the acts opened with a real cutie pie of a belly dancer... I've seen better belly dance but she 1) had a great costume 2) bore the screw ups like a real trooper and didn't get distracted by her nipples popping out all over the place or her skirt sliding off her ass. So she gets a huge kudos from me!!!

then the drag kings... well... they were ok... one of them sat down next to me after an act and leaned over and said "Could you undo my binding for me? it's killing me, I gotta get out of it" Well, gosh... suuuuuuuuure (6)

I think the drag king I liked the best was the Disco one...

they also did lots of gender queer FemmetoButch and ButchtoFemme and ButchtoDragQueen acts...

There was some also nice sudden butch breasts viewable from under open leather jackets (wiff nuffin on underneaff'em!!!) during a "greased lightening" musical number with five butches.

And the high point (or low sleezy point, depending on how much you had to drink by this time) was the Audience Participation Strip Conest. They offed free beer to anyone who would come up on stage and do a group strip.

OMG

Ok so one girl went all the way. And I mean ALL the way. winding up with legs and other things spread. She got her free beer though.

Oh and the Socialist Slut Cheer Leaders of femmes wearing sparkly cocks, ripped fishnets and a free breast or two giving cheers for the destruction of Multinational Conglomerates in Canada rocked my world as well!

And the audience really made it! people got into it and that really makes a difference!

That was wonderful... and thanks so much BB fer takin me (k) it was a hoot!

just a few of the fun and rowdy topics that had us closing the place down at lickerish last night...we all couldn't believe we were there for 6 hours? of drinking, eating, and great convo.

the evening started off with HB and i trying out the delicious martinis, when HB had her first sip, it was like whoa, hmmm gotta have more...yumyum those were awesome and of course i was totally groovin on them as well...

i had the curse of londo (vodka, peach schnapps, Oj, pineapple & coconut milk)and the willie wonka (vodka creme de cacao, drop of kaluha & frangelico) HB had the caramel apple x2(vodka, sour apple, butter ripple schnapps) and i think the kamikaze cosmo(vodka, peach schnapps, triple sec, cranberry & lime juice)

...then we shared some yummy food items...

awesome ambience i say, excellent food and even better company HB and AJ!!!...so much so, that we're doing a part two and maybe even a three-parter mini series...stay tuned here for more details...

Honeybarbara and I are for sure having dinner here and EVERYONE is welcome to join us.

The restaurant offers First Nations cuisine and is in a building reminiscent of a traditional longhouse design and was created by Arthur Erickson a very well known Canadian architect (sorry but i have a passion for cool architecture and space!)

It is a bit pricey, but some friends were able to help out a bit and we will be dining alot, alot, alot cheaper than usual there if you decide to join us...I've posted the menu up above in a previous post so you can have a look at the delectable fare. HB has advised me that the food is super nummy and well worth it...

AJ will be joining us for sure for this next part...
part 2 Saturday March 15, of this evening's event is for drinks and conversation at:
Place: The Sylvia Hotel, 1154 Gilford, right along English Bay, it's a landmark hotel with a beautiful view of English Bay.
Time: you can meet us there or at the Liliget after we're finished dinner around 9:00 ish, the Sylvia is within walking distance of the Liliget...

hmmm the only event nights that happen regularly for dykes in Vancouver are:

Naughty 1st Saturday of the month, Sugarwalls(30+???) 3rd Saturday of the month and Lesbians on the Loose the 4th and 5th(if there is one) Saturdays of the month...
all of these happen at Club 23 West, 23 West Cordova $5-$6 cover...

Club 23 West is the most butch/femme space in the city and the place is fairly busy...

As for areas, for sure the GayDavieVillage, Denman Street and Commercial Drive, any places/restaurants there are all gay friendly...

I'll be sure to check the Xtra West before you arrive because every now and then there are special events happening like drag shows and stuff...

as i see/think about more stuff, i'll post it for you...

i'm having an *extra* special visitor from out of town during the last week in May as well, Tourboi, so for sure we'll all have to get together for brunch or dinner!!!

At about 11 am on Saturday, April 5, my sweetie and I are were checking out Vancouver, and decided to take a drive down Commerical Drive. We were awestruck by the lesbo-friendly atmosphere there. And I recall saying to my partner, "Hey, I wonder if any of the Vancouver butch-femme.com members are hanging out here as we speak?" This was after not having had computer access for some time. i bought some cheddar vegan rella at the super valu store at the corner of commercial and 1st. so i would imagine that all super valus would carry them...there is also a super value on davie street almost right across from little sister's bookstore...

i'm really surprised that capers didn't have the cheddar type!
there are also a whole slew of health food/vegan places on commercial that for sure would have it...
