I cannot believe how tired I am......what great rides with such a devoted bunch of bikers, we have been blessed. We had from 7 to 12 of us at the house and on the rides for the last 3 days. Friday night the "core" arrived and stayed till Monday morning. (b) ;) (b)

Sat 7/2, we rode into Hollister by the back roads, stopped at the Panoche Inn on the way which was it's own mini Hollister. 7 bikes and 9 Sisters and packers, Rodeogirl led the ride. We got to Hollister about 12:00 and rode down Main St. past Johnny's Bar, such a mass of people. My engine was gett'in hot by the time we found parking.

Vendors everywhere, we bought some leather, even got a "cut" for our little 6 year old friend with a "I support Sisters of Scota Women's Motorcycle Club" patch on it. Wonder what they'll say when she wears that to first grade? :o

We had lunch at the Hard Times Cafe, great food, cute waitress com'in on to one of the single Sisters...........Harley and some of the West Coast Devil Dolls were sitting in the booth next to us. They are having their Girl Power Ride Aug. 27, see their website for more details. When we got done and hung out on the street, the H.A. rolled into town. They road in together from all over the West Coast, it's not often that I see them fly'in their colors in full formation. Lord, what a presence. We were warned ahead of time that some of the men's clubs might be having some "issues." Think the cops got that clue too as many as we saw that day. I heard some stories but basically did not see any "madness." It was all good. Talked with some Vietnam Vets (VNV, old school club), Legacy Vets were there, Henchmen, the Vagos......we talk to all of these clubs and many more, but we stand alone. We are not affiliated with any of the Men's Clubs. We picked up Virago and Catzpaw there and they road back with us to Fresno, things got interesting after that. We got dinner at about 11:00 p.m., had plenty of beverage then headed off to sleep for the next day.

Sunday, we rode the Sierras. Out of the Valley heat of 103 degrees, up 9,000 feet to Huntington Lake where it was about 83 degrees. We hit some tight twisties, had breakfast at Humphreys Station, hit 2 lakes and stripped down to our skivvies to cool off. The views up there were incredible, the dust cleared and the sky got so blue, the pines and firs turned into redwoods. After the "dip" we were riding in "the zone" were we all hit the curves in unison....at least for awhile. We left the main road and the tourists at the lake to take a one lane, no lined stretch of mountain hugging blacktop called "the beaver slide (how appropriate)," before heading home. I saw 2 sportbikes out there which is always a good sign. Back at the Ranch, we ate, drank, blew up fireworks and sang patriotic songs. There's more to this story but....what happens in Fresno, STAYS IN FRESNO.

Hey T.C. one of the Sisters wanted to try out a Road King and rented one for the weekend. Just a thought if you ever want to come out for this one. 'Course, you're always welcome to pack up "yer Hawg" and head out here anytime.

Hey ya'll.....Lady Di, T.C., F-n-L-n-L.......

(f) (f) (f) (f) (f) (f)

Glad you enjoy'ed the tribute to "Ol School" bik'in, that's what Hollister is all about.

I'm off to a little photo shoot at Marty's Bar in Neuman (where the fuck?????), they are mak'in a biker calendar and everyone has a chance to be in it. I thought it might be fun to go watch :o .

Next weekend, we are bike camp'in in the Redwoods around Mendocino. Our next big trip will be to ride up Ca through Oregon and to Spokane WA for one of Rodeo's kids wedding. I won't sleep for days gett'in amped up for it. Always happens when a long ride is due. I should get through 4 states on this one (Idaho is sooooo....close). We'll be travel'in dur'in Sturgis so ya'll go'in to the Black Hills have fun, we'll have to pass on that one this year.

I have a dream......I want to ride my bike in all 52 states, already plann'in an Alaska trip in 2 years. Hawaii will be a bit of a challenge, but it can be done ;) . My cut is already look'in like a 60's Airstream with all the colorful patches I'm putt'in on it, my pins kept blow'in off so they now rest at home in a place of honor. My club VP says she will give me a "special" patch or someth'in for my "cut" if I can do it. The sword has been handed to me, it's time to ride.

(I have a dream.........I want to ride my bike in all 52 states.....) :s

Either you guys are not read'in my post, or you are kind human bein's who choose not to call me on this, or none of you know how many states are in this great country of ours.....Hmmmmmm, let's see...........for clarification.

Well grasshopper, I have no excuse. I even bought a United States flag last year commemorating the arrival of Alaska into the Union and counted all 49 stars of the then current flag. So I know there are only 50 States. But sometimes, I am amiss in the details, particularly when I am in the throes of poetic license concerning my favorite topic, motorcycling. I could blame it on CRS or early Alzheimers, but it is just my damn adult ADD, spinn'in so fast that reality becomes a blurr. Sorry about that, I should not be so amiss with something this important.

But, now my goal is 50 States instead of 52, that should come even quicker. :D Unless you want to include my myriad states of mind: pleasure, bliss, excitement, conquest, ecstasy, exhaustion............Now I have even more states to ride to. Better quit while I'm ahead.

Well, I chalk it up to getting confused between 50 states in the U.S. and 52 cards in a deck. So, don't worry about it! LOL

Thanks Queen, I like your answer to my mindlessness.

And yes, I am plann'in on go'in to Athens GA next year, that's why I'm rid'in cross country. But with my ADD, I don't know how long I will stick around for the conference. Too many beautiful rides in the area, and I'm not one to sit and chat about it. Me and Roja will be tak'in the southern route, NM, TX, LA, MS, AL, GA - then strik'in up to VA, TN and we'll have to decide from there. Gonna take off about 3 weeks to do it, can't wait! Be good to meet ya there.

Here's the info:
The fourth AMA Women & Motorcycling Conference will be held June 30 through July 3, 2006 in Athens, Georgia.

The first three AMA Women & Motorcycling Conferences were held in 1997, 2000, and 2002. Nearly 700 women and men attended the 2002 conference, from nearly every U.S. state and several foreign countries.

Athens was chosen as the site of the 2006 AMA Women & Motorcycling Conference for its excellent facilities, and for its proximity to great motorcycle riding. The AMA is working closely with the leadership of national women's motorcycling organizations—including Motor Maids, Twisty Sisterz, Women in the Wind, Women on Wheels, Women's International Motorcycle Association-USA, and Women's Motorcyclist Foundation—to plan the 2006 conference.

The AMA will announce more details about the 2006 AMA Women & Motorcycling Conference in the coming months. For more information, check this site, visit www.AMADirectlink.com or call 1-800-AMA-JOIN.

VROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM

In 5 days, on August 30th, Catzpaw is going to climb up on my motorcycle and we are going to view the Pacific Ocean in Los Angeles at a ridiculously early hour of the morning so we can start our ride to BALTIMORE!!!!!!!

CROSS-COUNTRY ROUND-TRIP MOTORCYCLE RIDE AND B-F.COM BASH!

Can't think of a more perfect way to spend the month of September!

We're going to need hugs and smiles when we get there.....and maybe some liniment and Tylenol. (Oy. I think that was my age speaking. :))

We're leaving LA and heading up through Nevada, Utah, Idaho, Montana, North Dakota, then down through Minnesota towards Michigan. Depending on time and weather, we MIGHT head up to New England and then down the east coast to Baltimore (After all.....I need to refresh my Brooklyn accent). After Baltimore we're taking about 2 1/2 weeks to ride back to Vegas and L.A, heading down the east coast to Florida and then whereever our little hearts (and sore butts) take us.

We might be riding through a town near you! Don't know how much time we will have for visits, but if it works out, we'd love to spend more time with B-F.comers. Just let us know where you are and we'll see if we can come by that way!

My sister lives in Tennessee....You are so correct, it is absolutely beautiful...They have 50 acres and a whole herd of Black Angus, going up the side of a mountain ...

It is real pretty this way, too...We have mountains, lowlands and of course the coast...Makes you wanna ride for days on end....Freedom Rides...

Hearing the Thunder Roar...Feeling the vibrations, too. Closing my eyes and
having the wind against my face and hair....~Ahhhhh~ Such Heavenly thoughts...

Virago, you will need plenty of lintiment, but at least you have a world class masseuse rid'in with ya. My heart goes with you, ride safe and keep in touch so your family knows how you progress in your cross country trek. Next year, join us to the AMA conference. We have homes waiting to receive our weary bones from AZ, TX, NC, VA, NY, and maybe Maine if we go that far North. Keep a diary with your trials and tribulations to let us know how it goes.

Sue, I wish I had known......would have loved to meet you face to face. I rode with my daughter Summer in the Parade, she dyed her hair fuschia in honor of our club colors :-) I was thinking about the Russian River weekend, but alas; I have gone a bit broke after being away from home so much this summer. I'll keep my rides a little closer to Fresno for a bit to regroup. Maybe next year?

TC, if you want to ride to Athens with us I know we will be riding by your way. Afterall, my daughter and her family still live in Daingerfield, TX. Roja also has a friend in Dallas area, and 2 of our Sisters live there. Stay in touch. We'll probably pass through there a week or so before the conference.

We just got back from rid'in to Spokane WA; one of the kids got married. We have now officially ridden across 5 of the 6 Sierra Mountain Passes. Sonora Pass, Ebbett's Pass and Hwy 70 are my favorites so far (smaller, twisty, water and snow). We slept in Reno and headed out early the next day to Burns OR and saw some antelope grazing there. Across OR to Weizer ID to rest before rid'in 95 North between Hell's Canyon and Whitebird Canyon ID. The fires from Pomeroy WA were so smokey, we couldn't even see the Whitebird Canyon which is huge. But the roads were great, mostly following a snakey river, some hot spots from time to time........Just before Coeur d'alene, we headed west into Spokane for a great family wedding, most of Rodeogirl's kids were there, and grandkids too.

After 2 days of family fun, we loaded up and headed West to Toppenish WA where RG grew up on the family ranch. It's hard for her to relate to what we call a ranch in CA, here it can be a 7 acre family farm/ranch. In WA, a ranch can stretch between mountain ridges, or roughly 65,000 acres. Wow! Toppenish is an interesting town for being in the middle of nowhere. It is called the city of murals and has huge billboard sized, unique murals of Western life throughout the town. They even have an annual mural painting day where everyone comes out and completes 95% of the project between sun-up and sun-down, then a professional artist comes to touch up the final product. Very interesting, top of the line work. I think they are up to about 100 murals at this point, you should see it.

We rode from Toppenish to Bend OR along 97, the slowest f******ing road in America. It looked like a good direct shot home, but that's what everyone else in the Pacific NorthWest thought too, along with all the Big Rigs that you can't pass because there are too many people on the road. ARGH!!!!! After we slept (and I decompressed) we took 31, a scenic byway (always a good sign), and had the ride of a lifetime. Nice asphalt, twisty turns, wooded and cool, and Summer Lake. This seemed like payback for the Hell we went through the day before. We got back to CA on 395 for a bit, then we got creative. We took some mountain roads that were on the map, but we also took some roads not listed, asking locals for directions that worked out very well. Rode by Eagles Lake and Antelope Lake, even saw a mature fawn just losing it's spots and 2 running antelope in the area, pretty. Wildlife sightings are what interest me, I love the wild beauty of this country. Coyotes were here and there, but we have them outside our house too.

We made it to Roja_Grande's house in Sutter County for our last leg of the trip. Always good to have a Sister's home to stop at for a rest on a long journey. Thanks Roja.

The last day home we did the freeways, too tired to enjoy much else. All told it was 2,387 miles in 8 days without incident. Well, we won't talk about losing my rear brakes coming across Sonora Pass, not to worry, We Dealt With It!

I will see you both in Baltimore.
I went to sturgis again this year. My ride was non-eventfull.The boys[iron pigs] left here monday 8/7 for sturgis..they took 2 days to get to billings MT,i left tuesday morn and caught up with them.
They screw around too much for me.
On my way back....in Butte Mt i awoke to frost on my bike at 0630 am....and at 4pm it was 95 friggin degrees...NOW THAT IS EXTREME!

I hear the roar in the distance...The thunder of that Big Bad Dog thrills me.
My heart beats to the rythym of the sound, as my body resonates to the temptation...

The closer it comes the excitement escalates through my entire being..Like wildfire, my blood pulsates, as I think of strapping my legs across that big bad engine....The feel of that enormous vibration spirals me so high...The dare of it all rushes through me...

Then I open my eyes and smile as I think No, I am a Harley Girl..

It seems to be a few days (okay 10) since anyone has posted here but thought I would anyway :)

afallenmuse here in Central Florida looking for butches on bikes who would like to have a little company on the back every once in a while. My ex had the most beautiful Yahama Roadstar 1700 (Silverado)- so pretty I even had pictures of it- and nothing thrilled me more than to be on the back- I was so proud!

I am planning on starting my own clothing line next year for the femmes who are truly princesses on the back of their butches bike!!

01-08-2006, 01:02 PM
There are many clothing companies out there who are specifically designing clothes for women riders (and I am not talking about the unsafe riding clothes of tank tops or string bikini wear). I would love to see someone start TAILORING some of the existing clothing lines as I belive the market is pretty well saturated with womens only clothing folks. Several of my friends in the industry have had to go back to working other full time jobs as selling womens only motorcycle clothing at rallys has not been as fruitful as they had hoped. And it was not because the stuff wasn't great or priced reasonably. The issue seems to be not many are doing custom TAILORING to show off a womans curves. See we butches don't have too many issues with the current offerings of womens jackets and bottoms. They fit our frames pretty good. BUT a lot of femmes look like "sacks" instead of showing those great curves. What someone would need to do is find a way to open up the existing clothing and nip and tuck it here and there. That would be something some femmes would go for. How many? I do not know. Keep in mind that women currently make up less than 10% of the riding public. Now even less are women that need/want to have alterations done. Unfortunly my experience has been (and I have been to many large and small rallys up and down the eastern seaboard) that most women riders are not wanting to have their "ample" curves showing. It is as if they are embarrassed by their bodies. I happen to believe that all women are beautiful no matter how large or small they are. God don't make no mistakes. I have a friend that makes custom tailored riding suits and she does alright, but she also has to couple that with work on re covering torn seats and making other leather goodies for your bike.

I wish you luck, but encourage you to do your research before spending your lifes savings and all your efforts in something that may not fly very far.

I am one of those femme riders with ample curves...I may look like a sack when I ride long distances..that is because I am wearing layers underneath with my camelback inside my jacket...so fashionable jackets just don't cut it...and I am riding for safety..not vanity. Now I do have those fashionable , fancy hug my ample figure jackets for special occasions...but gawd help me if I go down in one of those...my skin is gone in a second. Besides...I love blowing people's mind when they see me take off my full face helmet and shake out my red hair and then take off my sack...it is a blast to see their reaction!!! One guy in Michigan said...you rode all that way by yourself from California? I just grinned at him.

The most incredible place I have ridden is through the Big Horn Mountains in the early morning hours when there is noone on the road and if it wasn't for the pavement...I would have never known what century I was in. And riding through a herd of cattle wasn't bad either!!

Hopefully you either responded with, "nope, I PUSHED it all the way from California, and this was the first gas station I found in all that distance ;) OR my personal favorite when some stupid male says something like that-place your hands under your breasts, while staring directly into his eyes and shoving them up :| :o . Then you walk away leaving them speechless. Works everytime. :)

I got up off my bike and looked at them and said..."Actually...I have ovaries" and just smiled at them. They were speechless. Then I had to show them how to tie down their bikes on the ferry. They were obviously fair weather riders...ya know the kind..weekend warriors on their harleys.

As most of you know, this year the AMA is holding the Women's Conference right here in Georgia. As some of us, even those who live close cannot afford the 185 dollar or so entry fee, I was wondering about the possibility of organizing a raid (or rally) in the North Georgia Mountains. That way, those who can't afford the conference, can still come, meet one another, and get the opportunity to ride some of the best roads in the US. Tell me what you think. I don't want to sound like I am trying to take away from the AMA, I would love to go if I could afford it. But, I just can't.

While I don't agree with the reasons behind the war, I do support the rights of those who are dying for us and those who mourn them to have a peaceful funeral without hate. It is ridiculous and irreverent. I'm proud of the brothers and sisters on chrome who've taken a personal responsibility to shield the families and friends of the fallen.

Hey there!! What's your website??? I love the VTX's!! Nice rides!!

The VTX is a great bike. That's the bike that I did my cross country round trip on this past September. I've got the VTX 1300C and that bike rode smooth with NO problems at all for all 9000 miles of the trip carrying over 100 pounds of gear AND a passsenger the whole way.

There are so many small businessess now that seem to specialize in customizing and altering the VTX. The one I deal with is Viking Motorcycle. I'm 5'0 and these guys helped me make the changes I needed to make my ride safe for my size...and with their smart suggestions I only had to make a few changes. Their website is http://www.ridevmc.com or their old site is still up: http://www.vikingmotorcycle.com.
They have more resources for altering your VTX than Honda does. I found Honda very limited to what a nice proper polite rider might want (well, I do try to be polite. But proper? Fugetaboutit!)

Ride on my friends!

I've got the fever to buy a bike again. My first was an '82 Honda Silverwing. Only 500 cc but windshield and hard bags made it look a bit bigger. Next I bought a '95 Kawasaki Vulcan 750. It was a piece of shit. Now I can't decide...do I go with the Harley cuz of the name (heavy sticker price)? Do I buy new or used? Is 1200cc too big or too small?

Help a sistah (or bro) out..please!

I bought a Harley Sportster for a little over 10K b/c I could afford the payments... but found pretty quickly it wasn't enough bike for me. When I bought my latest bike, I went with the 1100 Honda Shadow Aero (used but low miles). I have to say, I'm much happier. I got more bike, more c.c.'s, and more extras, with a much more affordable price. And going from the Sportster to the 1100... it was like going from a VW to a Cadillac!

Thanks Rotten...I'm looking at the HD sportster 1200cc custom. It's purty. I hear the sportsters are kinda low-end, but 1200 seems like plenty o bike. I am a little concerned that 500lbs is a lotta bike, but I guess I don't plan to lay it down. Gettin that much bike on its center peg seens like a job.

Hey Blistex... I see you're in San Diego... you planning to do a lot of roadtrips or is this gonna be around town? I only ask, b/c usually when you test drive a bike at the dealer... you really don't go that many miles, right? I mean for me, I didn't realize I didn't have enough bike until the very first time I went to Houston to Dallas with someone riding bitch. If you're gonna spend that kind of cash, I wonder if you could talk to the dealer about renting the same make/model for the weekend and then really putting on some miles to see if it's the bike for you.

The bike will be for weekend trips, maybe a couple hours but not across country. I did find a local Harley dealer who rents bikes for $100-150/day (depending on the model). Haven't seen other Dealers with rentals. I'm trying to figure out the bitch thing too (do I go with the backrest in-case I have a passenger..what is more comfortable?). Lot's to ponder. Not to worry, 500 is almost no weight. And anyone can pick up a bike, heck, I could teach my neice to pick up my HD.

I am a little concerned that 500lbs is a lotta bike, but I guess I don't plan to lay it down. Gettin that much bike on its center peg seens like a job.

Watch the Sporty's my boss bought the 1200 and he is 73 and weights maybe 140 lbs. He says it's just not enough bike he is looking now into the softail deuces!

I would say if you have a Harley dealer that rents them get one for a weekend see if it is enough bike for you!

We just bought a XL 1200C HD sportster. I'm moving up from an 800 Suzuki Intruder.
It's been a big adjustment with the forward controls, and the higher seat position but I'm getting adjusted pretty smoothly. I spent a little time on it before riding two up, and think we're going to do ok. Now after a big trip I'll repost and tell you how comfortable it really was or wasn't. This is my 5th bike in 15 years, and I decided I was going to get a Harley this time around. I definately bought into the culture. I Agree with a friend that told me HD stood for hundred dollar because 100.00 is what you spent everytime you walked into a Harley store.
Who knows, we may be like Rottie and decide it wasn't for us and get ourselves something different next summer. But for now I'm liking the vibration, the way the motor sounds, and the second glances we're catching going down the road.

I finally got my bike into the shop for maintenance, and probably a carb rebuild since it sat in a garage for more than a year. But the good news is, I'll finally be ready to ride this season!!! The bad news... my favorite riding buddy moved to CT and now I have to find new riders. If anyone is in NY/NJ, let's hook up! My CT buddy and her boifriend will probably meet us for a few rides too!

So....after a long and verrrrry rainy and flooding and mudslide winter we have sun up here in the mountains of Northern California. I hopped a ride into San Francisco to get my bike from my guy's house to ride it to my mechanic for its tuneup. I was being ultra careful around curves because of the mudslides and gravel and wet pavement...I was going through a curve..leaning gently to my left on the wet pavement and the next thing I know I am ungracefully rolling across the two lane mountain twisty mountain road....me going towards the guardrail and my beautiful bike sliding down the road. No warning...no fishtail..no wobble..no bumps...nothing....like a hand just tipped me over!!! I will spare you the details...I am alive and up and about with discomfort on my left rib area ...my bike is rideable...with minimal damage...my black leather jacket which I wear for safety and not fashion protected me...as did my full gloves and boots and fullface helmet. It also helped there was no oncoming traffic or I am not so sure I would be here writing this to you all.

I still can't quite figure out why it happened...maybe I was going too slow in the curve? wet pavement? mud? gravel..uneven pavement...I am going out this week with my buddy who is going to analyze the area for me. My tires are fine...so go figger.

As soon as my bike is fixed I am getting back on her and ride the same road!
And thanks to all you EMTs out there!!! you are fabulous!! you have horrible rotten jokes...which made me laugh anyways in spite of the pain..but geez...they were awful!!! Good distraction!!

So....please ride with safe and full gear!

Yikes, Sue. I'm glad to hear that you're ostensibly fine. That sort of incident is really scary, I know. From what you wrote I cannot figure what happened, but sometimes we never can with that sort of thing. I was riding with a friend once and her bike went down in much the same fashion you described, and later a mechanic was able to discern that her front brake had grabbed and held too strongly. Good luck in mending and in trying to deterime what went awry.

Thank godness you had on great riding gear and that there was no oncoming traffic. Stay safe and enjoy getting back on your bike. Riding, there is no feeling like it.
We got some good pictures (http://www.butch-femme.com/galleries2/showgallery.php?cat=500&ppuser=15966) over the weekend and I can't wait for a few good bike events to take place. Is there anyone that knows of any within 6 hours or so from Ohio?

So.... Ya think I would learn from last year. I left my bike parked in the garage as usual. I didn't get a battery tender yet again. I went to start the bike up yesterday with the beautiful weather we have been having and nothing. Not even the headlight would come on. Last year I had to buy a whole new battery and swore to myself I wouldn't do the same thing again. Yeah right! Here I am yet another year with a dead battery. I am hoping I can charge it up and it will be fine. Add that to the list of things I need to get done. Someone slap me upside my noggin and knock some sense into me :|

I've done the same thing for the last 4 years. I finally bought a battery charger, but my battery is a pain in the ass to take in and out - it's located behind the tool plate and bracket. Last year, I took out the battery, charged it, got it started, but then it sputtered out and wouldn't restart. I know it's because the gas was bad from sitting in the tank all those months. So finally, it's in the shop and I'll probably get a whopper of a bill to rebuild the carbs. And again, I will make the promise to myself not to let the bike sit all winter without starting it every once in awhile!

You can also put an additive in your gas tank when you winterize it. Keeps the gas from spoiling.

Now.... I need to check everything out like tire pressure and what not before I go take it for its inspection. FUN FUN! The way gas prices are these days I think I will be putting alot of miles on my bike this year.

FYI - they have trickle chargers that are battery chargers for instances like bikes going into winter storage. My bike was the same to get to the battery - major pain in the ass!! The trickle charger had a small secondary set of wires that afix to the battery itself and stay there.. then when you have to charge the bike, you just attach the battery charger to the trickle wires - no removing the battery!! Makes life alot easier!!

Now, I just buy a new battery for my jet ski every spring instead of the ski AND the bike... LOL

:) Yeah, I actually have one of those. The problem with it is there is nowhere to plug it into to keep the charge going during Winter. The bike was in a garage where I didn't have access to electrical, now it's in a parking lot - again no electrical access. Also, the casing that holds the battery is *really* snug, I don't know if I could actually leave the battery in and fit the cables on too. Oh well... I'll just have to make sure I start it every so often :)

I don't know if you're really supose to do this, but so far I haven't had any complications. The last two bikes I have had the battery fit so snug and was such a pain to remove. To charge the battery I took a long screwdriver and slid it back in the cranny so that it was touching the neg battery terminal. I then was able to connect the charger to the positive terminal, and the negative terminal (screwdriver) it worked fine, and as I said I didn't notice any problems from doing this to the bike or to the battery.

Running your bike for short periods of time during the winter "storage" will allow water to condense inside the motor, exhaust pipes, and mufflers. This only turns the condensation in the engine to water in your oil.
I'm by no means an expert. This is just what I've heard. You're right though, we've all just got months before this has to happen. Let's enjoy the summer!!!

I have to agree with Snicker, I hate wearing a helmet, and I'm so glad it's not mandatory here. I pray The Great State O' TX doesn't change the law. Although, I wonder how many people would fall over from heat exhaustion if they forced the helmet law.

Hope everyone rides safely

OK, I am looking to buy a motorcycle and I've looked at mostly everything...Harley, Yamaha, Honda, Suzuki.....I have particular criteria and none of them seem to meet my wants entirely. I'm open to suggestions. Here's what I want:
Forward foot controls
Pull back handle bars
At least 1000cc
nice king queen type seat

I like Harleys, particulary a Sportster, but can't find one that meets all these criteria.....
Of course what I really like and can afford are two different things...so, any ideas?

Try the Honda Aero 1100 or new Suzuki. I owned a honda aero, bars were pulled back more than most bikes. Seats are reasonably priced, I would suggest buying and then ordering a seat, they are easy to replace. I ordered mine from corbin, best seat I ever had.

Sounds like you may have to buy a bike and make those modifications yourself. I have seen Sportsters look like this (except the seat) but it was all after-market mods. Good luck!

And just to expand on that.... the "smaller" bikes are never as smooth as the larger ones. I have a Suzuki Savage 650, it was/is my first bike and I bought it mostly because the seat was low, the bike was small and I liked the look; but I was ready for a new, bigger bike after about 2 months. I wish I had gone with the Intruder 800. I've ridden a few 750's/800's and even though they aren't much bigger, the difference in the smoothness of the ride was extremely noticible. The Yamaha V-Star has a nice smooth ride for a mid-size bike. Another thing to consider, all bikes have weight limits, so if you're planning on doing a fair amount of 2-person riding, you definitely need to check out the weight limits.

Yes, this is a very easy task.
1) Remove tank (disconnect all hoses at this time)
2) drain tank
3) remove old petcock
4) replace with new petcock
5) remount tank (reconnect hoses at this time)
6) Fill with gas
7) Verify no leaks
8) verify gas is getting through to carbs
9) get geared up
10) RIDE !!!!

No, it will be my 4th, but I haven't had one for about 15 years. My dream was to have a Harley and we went and looked at them over the week-end but I couldn't find anything I really liked. I also have to remember that I've lost a bunch of weight and am not as big as I was and need one that I know I can pick up if dumped.

My spousal equivilant isn't interested in riding with me, in fact she would prefer I not get one. The only way she would ever get on one is if we bought a tryke...one of those fancy schmancy ones, but hey, who has that kind of money? We sure don't.

The weather was off and on this weekend but there were definitely opportunities to ride. Unfortunately, I didn't take any of them LOL. I did go on a short ride one night last week, but I'd really like to find some people in the NJ/NY area to get together for day trips on Saturday.

Anyone out there interested???

I'm staying near Newark, and Milmay which is southern NJ. I'm not facinated with NJ and I'll be here at least 30 days helping, so it would be nice meeting others.

Morning all.

I am planning a long trip from FL, up the east coast to Newport News and then planning on zipping over to knoxville and return home.
I do not have a time frame as of yet, have to work out the time off work.
If anyone is interested in joining me for portions of my trip, PM me and we can talk about it.

Hi Razr, Newark NJ is in Northern NJ not Southern. I can see why you arn't facinated with Newark.. laughs... Its a pretty dirty area. Just be thankful it is only a 30 day stay ;)

Hi Queen.. new to NJ huh? How do you like it so far? How far from Pa are you? If you don't want to post up in the thread the info send it along in a PM.

I could use some riding buddies. Only thing is I don't get weekends off :(

Hey there :) Honestly, I never planned to live in NJ, but I'm loving it :) I live in Belleville, and I'm so glad not to be living in NYC anymore. I still work in Manhattan, but living in Queens for 5 years was more than enough for me. I don't plan to stay in NJ forever though - I'd like to go back to the West Coast in a few years.

I'm pretty far from PA - I think ... LOL

That sucks about working on the weekends - it must be difficult for you to find people to ride with during the week.

If anyone is interested in riding with "Dykes on Bikes" (hosted by Sirens MC), let me know, I'll be riding in from NJ! The registration fee is $15 per bike. Arrival time is 9am at the Pom-Pom Diner at 11th Avenue and 45th Street. Hope to see you there!

I noticed you hadn't put Kawasaki on your list...as a Vulcan rider, I can highly recommend the Kawi Vulcan line of bikes. I'm 5'9" and vary between 160 and 170lbs and I ride the Vulcan Classic 1600. They have a new one that's a 900cc bike (I know that's below your criteria, but you might still want to check it out) that's styled the same as the 1600. Mine is liquid-cooled, fuel-injected and shaft-driven. I've never had an issue with it and it's simply the smoothest, most beautiful bike I've ever ridden.

I like the vulcans as well. They are a nice bike and the non-air cooling system is great, and yes it is a smooth ride. Jules, there is picture of one in my old gallery, and it will give you sort of an idea what they look like.
I'm enjoying my Harley, but I've realized that my 5'2 height could have actually rode something other than the Sportster. Don't get me wrong I love the sportster, but I'd love to eventually get out and really go some miles. I think my girl and I could really get more comfortable miles in with something a little bigger. We're fine for now, but we know the sportster is a transistion bike for us.

I took my first tumble on the bike over the weekend.
During our pride parade a marcher broke formation and ran into the side of my bike. PinkCrush and I of course were both thrown off and the bike hit the ground. The bike landed on the marcher pipe side down. Man I was freaked out. We got the bike off of him and the squad came and took him off to the hospital.
We were mostly just sore and a little bruised, with only a little road rash. The bike was totally unscratched since it landed on the man.
I can't imagine having a real spill. I feel for anyone who has experienced an accident. This little jolt was enough to scare the hell out of me.

I think you're right. The parades have gotten a little more out of control. This was my 4th one, and it seems every year the crowd is a little more scattered and less organized. The kicker of the whole incident was that I was cited for failure to control. I don't understand it. The police report shows a picture (Drawn) of a side impact, and hit area was circled as the right side of the motorcycle. Who knows other than I can say that the cop was a dick, and I say that with as much professional respect as I can muster up.

I bet I have ridden in over a dozen. When I was younger, I did not care, now my bike cost more than the cost of all my other bikes combined. Now I find crowd control, actually lack of, a real pain in the ass.
Not all are that bad, but it is getting to where I am frustrated. I mean the organizers have no idea what is it like to sit on a bike which is emitting 150 degrees of heat on your thigh.
damn.

I'd say our parade here in Denver was the most organized I've EVER seen it be. For our part, we just reorganized the Dykes on Bikes here this year. It's been defunct for probably a decade. So, we actually have officers (pres, vice pres, etc) and we attended parade meetings prior to the parade so we could organize with the people in charge of the parade. We rode in formation, used hand signals, even organized non-members who showed up to ride. We took responsibility for our group and we got an incredible amount of compliments regarding how clean we rode, how big the group looked (we rode 4-3-4), how much safer it was for us AND the crowd watching. I've never enjoyed riding in the parade as much as I did this year.

Ok, the time has come for me to finally take a long vacation. The last ong trip I did was 1100 miles in 4 days. Nice easy trip, no hassles, only one minor "bump" in the road. I routinely do 300-400 miles every weekend just around my local area, so a larger trip in order.

That was 3 years ago. This year I decided to take two weeks and see all I can see, in the southeastern US. I am calling it the East Coast Lighthouse Tour

I have only one obligation to satisfy in those two weeks, that is to be in Cincinnati, OH, on August 12 for a special ceremony.

I plan to depart Tampa, August 10 and drive straight up 75. I figure to stop somewhere around Atlanta that night, making Cincy by Friday, Aug. 11. I will depart Cincy on Sunday, Aug 13. The plan is to drive across Northern Kentucky/Southern Ohio along the river. I have no particular destination in mind. Either I will land in DC, or Newport News.

From there I really plan on seeing every lighthouse on the coast (looking for the maps now), as well as zigzagging across each state, as I meander my way back to Tampa.
Yes, I have EVERY intention of riding the Tail of the Dragon, again!

My final stop, before returning to Tampa will be Savannah, GA, somewhere between the 20th - 22nd. I plan on being home the 22nd or 23rd.

Now you ask, why am I putting this out there? Well, if anyone wants to join me, for any part of the route, just drop me line. If you like traveling with no destination, no schedules, you will love riding with me. It would be a pleasure to meet some of my compadres on this trip.

I went to court today for my failure to control ticket I got during pride. The judge listened to the points of my story and dismissed the case. I was really worried that I'd have an uninterested judge, one that frowned on queers, and hated Pride parades.

Jules - have you looked at the Harley-Davidson StreetBob? It's in the Dyna family...the only thing that it does not have on your list is the seat - it comes stock w/ a single (stock: ape hangers, forward controls, 6-speed, fuel injected). In my opinion, it handles and sits MUCH better than a 1200 and it's in an affordable price range. I am pretty partial though - I'm in love with the Dyna family...Cayden and I just bought our first - an `06 Dyna WideGlide.

I have a 1200 Sportster, but I love the look of the StreetBob. Even though I'm pretty much maxed out on chrome on my back, I like the black on black look. There's something unique about the flat black color too.

BoDy*ShOt

you should see the 2007 color scheme for the StreetBob - it's a combination of vivid black and denim black (the flat black color) - it's a custom paint job but it's pretty sweet looking! I really like the StreetBob because it is old school - just enough chrome. I've seen it blacked out and I don't care for it that much - to me, the blacked out look is specific to the NightTrain. The NightTrain is what I've always wanted...but since owning a Dyna...I don't know now *lol* The WideGlide fits Cayden (and both of us) perfectly...I'm still a little in awe to "drive" it...but, I'm starting to get some individual miles on it. It's FAST so I have to be really careful...because I like fast! (6)

It's okay to have jitters, but really, there is nothing to worry about! :)

Of course your class may be different than the one I took but first you have classroom time. Then when you do "field" time, they show you how to get on and off of a bike. Then they have someone push the bike from behind while you're sitting on it (engine OFF) so you can get the feel of balancing on it. Then they teach the controls and how to start it. Then finally they teach you how to start riding. Seriously, it's SO step by step that you will feel comfortable, and by the last day, you'll be ready to get your own bike and ride!!

being the manager of a dealership who has the contract to work on the local Rider's Education Course's bikes,
I can tell you that it is not as bad as you think...lol, most of the bikes sustain minor damage, and I have yet to hear of anyone being klicked out for dropping the bikes...lol, even when an Instructor told me of a time when they were run over by a student...lol, which is only funny because she faired well, and had no major damage to herself, and the student was ok...

yesterday I said goodbye to a fallen soldier, I shed a tear for him. It was one of the most satisfying rides I've ever done. I will continue to ride with the Patriot Guard Riders as they are people from all walks of life who come together on motorcycles to ride in support of a fallen soldier, and shield that soldier's family from the hate of protesters. The protesters were protesting the funerals of fallen soldiers because "America tolerates gays". The protesters are not really a worry anymore since the latest law was passed, yet the PGR continues to ride and "stand watch". among the PGR contingent, was a young handicapped woman who held a small flag in her crippled hand and held her hand over her heart to salute the soldier as his casket was carried out, that young lady, I found out, has attended at least 12 of these missions... there was also a grandmother who drove a support vehicle that provided everyone with cold water and gatorade.... and there were the two war veterans who had to walk with the use of a cane, yet they continue to ride their motorcycles in the PGR missions... there were men and women from all different branches of service and some that had not served in the military. A total of 64 bikers and the four support vehicles attended this mission. Harleys, Hondas, MotoGuzzis, Trikes, you name it, it was there....The support this soldier recieved from everyone made Me smile.

Since leaving Thursday I have had horrible heat, a day of rain, and discovered I am totally acclimated to FL weather. Got up yesterday morning to ride along the river and it was COLD. OK, not cold, but this boi did not bring hys heavy coat, lucky for me I had a spare being stored by a friend.
So spent the day riding over some roads I had not travelled while I stil loved here. Teh views were breathtaking. Almost worth moving back for, then I remember the cold...

Plan to leave Cincinnati Tuesday or Wednesday, headig east towards Arlington.
Give me a wave as I pass through!

I am home. Had a great trip.

Logged 3300+ miles in 14 days, but I would say only 10 actual riding days.

Favorite was the roads in WV, I do miss the mountains.

I cut out the tail of the dragon, too much rain to risk it. Maybe int he spring we can all meet and do it together.

Thanks to all who graciously opened there homes to me. It was a pleasure meeting you all.

BBO, thanks for the ride, it was a great way to close the day. Hope we ride again sometimes.

I'm heading to New Zealand (North Island) in 02/07 for three weeks, I was thinking of doing some riding for a week. Has anyone ridden in NZ? Any points of interest I should check out? Any safety tips? I've driven in AU, so I know what side of the road to stay on!! I'm thinking of motorcycling in the northern part of Auckland. Airline ticket is paid, hotels in NZ and AU paid, I'm ready for a life changing experience! Thanks!

I'm with you, I've been riding since I was 10yrs old. I now own a 96 Kawasaki Vulcan 1500, best bike I've ever owned. I have several helmets in my closet collecting dust. I've just never liked wearing them. I'm glad that I live in a state where they let me choose for myself. On hot days I wear shorts, My girl bought me some leather chaps, have not put them on yet, I'll try them this fall. I have several leather jackets, all sporting the Vulcan sign. I love going into cycle shops and just taking a deep breath and smelling all the tires and leather, love that smell lol. Well that's my input on cycling, its a great past time.

Happy trails......................................

I agree - rain is a grin killer for sure. But you can still do Tail Of The Dragon, or nearly any other road - just keep it slow n' controlled. I was there the last weekend of July, it rained on me 4 out of 5 days on that trip - the last day, on the way back, the sun finally came out. But you know what - I learned a lot about handling my bike in unpleasant conditions, and am a better rider for it. Not to mention I got some great photos of mist floating around in the Smokies. Spectacular! At least it was warmish rain.

I spent the night in KOA Cherokee, and nearly came nose to nose with a doe elk on the way there. Do NOT let a little rain cause you to miss out on such a beautiful brush with potential death! It will allow you to reprioritize your day to day worries...;)

Did Ride4Kids in Ann Arbor MI last weekend. Guess what? It rained on us. :|

I've been riding for 15 years and until this summer had never rode in the rain. I'm a pretty fair weather rider. I hit tornado type weather this past june, and It took me about 5 hours to go 50 miles. I stopped a few times, but the wind is what slowed me down the most. I hated it, I hated it, I hated it! I do need to invest in some good rain gear since I finally have a partner who likes to ride with me.

I've ridden in all kinds of weather, because when you live in Colorado, you never know what to expect. I never start a ride in bad weather though - if it's raining, windy or snowing, I don't go. BUT, there have been MANY times when it was a beautiful day going, and then overnight the weather turned, so on the way back, the elements had to be endured. Oddly enough, it didn't bother me all that much, having to ride in crazy weather, other than the "I hope I don't dump my bike" factor LOL.

I live in NJ now and the weather doesn't turn crazy suddenly like it does in Colorado, but we've had a lot of rain this summer which has kept me from riding as much as I would have liked to. I'm hoping to get at least another 3 or 4 good rides in before riding season is over, but it's not looking good so far :(

I've never owned any rain gear, but if I want to ride more often, I think I might have to finally give in and make a purchase!

I agree, I do not start out in bad weather, but you have to get home, so sometimes you have no choice. I improve my skills with each ride, so with 20+ years riding, I am comfy in the rain. Heck, I drove my first MC home in torrential CA rains in the 80s.

I would not give up riding, ever. I did for a few years, and was miserable, never again.

I had to give up riding for a year a couple of years ago - couldn't afford the bike payments at the time, lost my factory job due to plant closure, and was in school, etc... Longest, most miserable year I can remember! I ended up with something smaller as soon as I got back on my feet a little, which has actually come to suit me better, but ohhhh wow. I'd rather be shot than lose my bike again.

I do have an Aerostich Roadcrafter suit, which I love - would recommend it highly to anyone as an all encompassing all weather long distance gear investment, but they are expensive. Not as expensive as skin grafting, though - should the unspeakable happen!

Hello old friends, it's been awhile. Rodeogirl and I do fine here in sunny California, we are both in school currently. She is halfway through the RN program, I am upgrading my RN to BSN...........figured we could suffer through this together.:s

TC, glad to see you got hooked up with the PGR. We have been riding with them this year and have done 5 Missions and 2 special Missions so far. They're such a welcoming group of people and have asked me to Ride Captain a couple of their rides. What an honor......and a headache, ever led a pack of about 50 bikers on a 100 mile Run? But it is well worth the logistics, these are such heart warming affairs. We try to have a "download" get together at a local VFW or American Legion after each Mission. So many of the riders travel 100s of miles to come to the Mission and have to travel back the same day, they have amazing heart. I have made friends in this group that I will keep for life. We visit each others homes and are even having a 3 day camp-out at Basss Lake, CA in 2 weeks. We need the support in order to continue these Missions which are particularly hard on our Vets that ride. Vietnam Vets/Legacy Vets MC, American Legion Riders, Veterans of Vietnam MC, Marines MC, Blue Knights ~ these and many more MCs all ride with the PGR as well as the Independant Riders. It is my privilage to be involved with such a group.

BBO ~ I hope you got to ride your Lighthouse Tour. Me and Roja Grande rode to the AMA Women in Motorcycling Conference this year ~ 8,000 miles in 33 days ~ trip of a lifetime. Riding the Outer Banks from Southport N.C. to Norfolk, VA was one of the best rides on the trip. In Southport we stayed for an All-American 4th of July Parade and celebration, it was the best! July 5th, we got up to catch our first ferry before dawn and almost missed it. Then we rode from Wilmington to Cedar Island where we almost missed our next ferry, this was a 2 hr ferry ride that cost $10.00. We met lots of Bikers on the Ferry and enjoyed swapping road stories on our journey acrossPamlico sound. When we arrived at Ocracoke Island we ate fried softshell crab sandwiches at Howard's Pub where the locals weather the Hurricanes. By now, the traffic had thinned to a trickle and we were riding across a thin strip of sandy land with beach grass on either side and the Atlantic Ocean to our right and Pamlico Sound on our left, what a ride! We had to take another short ferry at Hatteras and were the last to arrive and get docked on board. Seems to be a recurring theme here. Our final leg for the day was to Nag's Head where we stopped at almost the first Hotel we saw and put down our money for a 4th floor room with a balcony view of the Ocean, Now Roja knows I don't like to spend that kinda money, but we were both exhausted and it was getting close to nightfall. That was the best investment of the trip. We stayed 3 days and saw a pod of dolphins swimming past our room in the early morning. Flocks of Pelicans were so close you could almost reach out and touch them. We rode to Kitty Hawk where Roja flew (Hang gliding) and I played amateur photographer, we went to Roanoke Island and visited the Bodie Island Lighthouse. It was definately a highlight of our trip.

Enjoyed the M/C rides in WV and Idaho the most. Enjoyed talking to people across the South where it seems everybody wanted to hear our story. And the AMA Conference in Athens GA, what can you say! 1,000 women from 44 states and 11 countries with demo rides from ALL the major manufacturers. I fell in love with the new Honda Goldwing 1800, it's been rebuilt by a Sportbike specialist for this year and has lots of flexibility and muscle. I'm not sell'in my Deuce but I sure could get used to the Wing for touring. Lots of Family at this Event too which was a surprise, other Women's Conferences I have been too usually have women with their husbands in tow. Maybe because this Event was for serious riders, gals rode their bikes from all over the country to be here. When we left, we rode out with a group from NJ that invited us to stay with them if we got that far North. We went to Fridericksburg, VA before turning west to head home. We hit some "Forrest Gump" rain in Indiana but otherwise had pretty weather the whole trip till we hit the CA killer heat wave on the last day. I stopped sweating and almost passed out by the time I hit home, I rode in 114 degree temps for over 5 hours. In Casper, Wyoming we saw the most antelope in a wild herd I had ever seen. The animals are so docile in Yellowstone, we had to stop on the road to let a herd of Bison walk by. Too many cars and trailers in the park but it was wonderful to see the all the wildlife. Idaho Hwy 12 which is a scenic byway is a well kept secret; snakes along for 160 miles beside the clearwater river and is the most isolated and beautiful ride we took from Lolo Pass to Lewiston across the Reservation. We stopped at the "Heart of the Monster" which is a legendary place that is the origin of the Nez Perce people.

Good chatting with you again.

It's a 31 years old Honda Super Sport...and I love it.
20.000 original miles, all original, including the exhaust. Back then, these bikes came stock with an inline four motor, 4 into 1 exhaust, and made for straight line racing. The handling on such road like the Dragon can be difficult, and downright dangerous...lol.
Maybe by spring, lol...

Hello all,

There is a 3 day ride to Death Valley from San Francisco. I went on it three years ago and had an absolute blast. Bring your sunscreen, your camelbacks, cameras, bathing suits and riding gear. Everyone has the route and rides at their own pace. Some stop at the hot springs on the first day.On the second day we meet up with bikers from LA and Las Vegas and have lunch with them. On the third day we ride back up to SF. It is a hard three day ride and can be in the high 90s in the Valley. However, the scenery is phenomenal. And to open up your bike as high as you dare to go on the Death Valley floor is a zen experience!

Here is the link: http://www.well.com/~mcpsycle/qbindex.htm

My guy and I will be going. We also rode to Reno for Street Vibrations...had a great time. Lots of riding and shopping. But wow was it windy coming through Central California..it was exhausting! I haven't ridden in that kind of wind in years.

Ride safe!

Hey all, I ride a 2003 Vulcan Classic 1600 and the warranty is gonna run out in May. I was wondering how many of you wrench your own bikes and what tips you might have. I've been having the dealership do my oil changes and checkups (it hasn't needed anything but that) and I kinda want to figure out how to do my own oil changes and nut tightening (no pun intended). Make sure you use a motorcycle specific grade of oil.
It is made for motors that will run up to 30 degrees hotter than an automobile, as well...formulated to run through wet-sump motors. The motor oil runs through your clutch and transmission...and using anything less than the proper grade, may cause eventualy clutch slippage, as well as a lack of protection from the shearing of your tranny gears.
I use a synthetic/petroleum blend, and my bike seems quite happy with it. When I did make the change to the semi-synthetic, the shifting smoothed out, and some of the infamous top end noise indeed subsided.
I adjust my own valves, etc....but my old monster has tappet vales.
A whole world different than todays valve systems to adjust.
Use the right fluids, and the right tools...in combination with the manual, lol...and you should do just fine!

Thanks! I know Kawi has their own oil specific to the bike itself, so that part I got. With the bike I have, it's not likely I'll need any major services for another 5 years. I'm figuring on trying to follow the manual for suggested services based on mileage instead of time, since I haven't gotten to ride a lot this summer.
LOL, I hear you. This bike is fuel injected and shaft driven, much different from my old carbuerated, chain driven sport bike.

Well, the mechanic at the shop said that they don't make lowering links for the '97 Shadow Spirit my g/f now has - aside from softening the shocks and shaving the foam on the seat, anyone have alternative ideas on lowering it? She's about 4'10, and is up on her toes when sitting on it - not stable. And a little hostile to the idea of platform boots.:o

Check www.corbin.com, you may be able to find a new seat with a low profile

Check out this link for a lowering kit on that model.
There are front and/or rear kits for several of the Honda Cruisers. Feel free to PM me if you need any further information on available stuff, as I spend a good portion of my days here at work searching for those hard to find items for vintage/classic/newer model metric bikes. Hard to find anything like this in mass production. Getting her a good pair of riding boots, lol...with lots of sole and extra rubber on da bottom might give her up to another inch of extension to the ground. Although some people might recommend lower profile tires, I would caution against it...as it may adversely affect the handling of the bike. gD's Corbin seat idea is good as well! I remember when Mike Corbin used to take appointments where you could ride in and shoot the shyt with him as he created your seat...it was wayyyyy back when...lol, in Santa Clara area. Now he is too bizzy to even consider personalized service...which means his stuff is good! Mustang seats might have a couple of ideas as well, you can call then and they are really helpful to retail customers as well.
Let us know how it works out!

I bought a boot with a lot of sole. It gave me a bigger boost than I had expected.

Next week I'm going to be 28 miles from The Dragon with no bike :'(

Here's a little something I found on the Patriot Guard website that some of ya'll might find neat.... I actually think its pretty profound...as i'm sure most of us can relate to it...

Under the Leather and Behind the Shades

Under the leather and behind the shades stands a
biker. We ride for the sense of freedom it gives us.
The encouragement to take the road less traveled in
the chance that we may encounter something new. We
ride for the friendships we make along the way, as
well as, the solitude of the open road. We don’t
really care what you ride, just that you do.

Under the leather and behind the shades is a beating
heart. A heart filled with compassion that on any
given day will be riding for those in need. Ask one of
us for help, but don’t be surprised when all of us
show up.

Under the leather and behind the shades stands a proud
American. We are as diverse a group of people that you
could possibly assemble. We are men, women, tradesmen,
doctors, lawyers, retirees, military, civilian and on
and on and on. We stand silently with reverence and
one voice that, in the silence, can be overwhelming.

Under the leather and behind the shades stands an
invited guest to the funeral of a soldier that we most
likely have never met. We hold the flag of our nation
as a tribute to the greatest sacrifice anyone can
make. Out of respect for the fallen, we travel to
stand firm for a family, a community and a nation to
lean on.

Under the leather and behind the shades stands a biker
with sons, daughters, brothers and sisters of our own.
Beneath the rough exterior we tremble and weep at your
loss. You may not see that, for we are there to
support you. That’s why we stand so silently under the
leather and behind the shades.

Respectfully,

David Meyers II

Awesome! Found exactly what we need there - getting the parts for her for Xmas! And as soon as the tax returns come in we'll get it done. We'll be up and running well in time for any potential Dragon riding this spring... ;)

Thanks very much to all!;)

We drove down the Dragon over the Thanksgiving weekend. Too bad we were in a mini van and not on our Bike.
Oh well, at least we have an idea of how great of a ride we'll have come spring.
