FAB Evenings TO

Hey bois and girls! Most of the Toronto-based butches and femmes know about our lil' social group called FAB (Femme and Butch Evenings) that's now in it's 4th month.

It's a group for butches and femmes in the Toronto area to get together for fun and companionship. We started in October with about 25 butches and femmes meeting for Brunch, and then met in November with about 36 people meeting for dinner, drinks, pool and dancing (boy, was that long night!). In December a smaller group met for New Year's Eve dancing, and this month we're having a progressive dinner.

For those who don't know, a progressive dinner is one where a group of people move or "progress" for each course. Appetizers at one place, entree at another, dessert somewhere else, and aperetifs at sill another location. Normally, this is done at people's homes...like a movable potluck (or, "feast" if you will), ;). If we have enough people living in the downtown area, who are willing to host, we'll have this event in private homes. If we don't have enough volunteers, we'll do this at various downtown venues.

As usual, we'll be talking about it here at Butch-Femme.com, at Butch-Femme Loving, and through private emails with participants from the Fallen Goddess website. In addition, we'll be talking about in on our new email list fabeveningsto@yahoo.ca and of course, my hope is, that that list will continue to grow and become the main way we have to communicate with one another. :)

In the meantime, we're lucky to have Butch-Femme.com, so... as our January event is taking place on Saturday, January 24, we need to get this show on the road! Any volunteers, ideas, etc.?

Hi Kit, This thread is a good idea.

As for the 24th event, Kaylar and I have a family function taking up virtually the entire weekend. We won't be having nearly as much fun as you folks - but I bet we'll be eating lots more -Sat. morn till Sunday night. My family believes waaay too much food is not nearly enough.:s

1) Appetizers at PJ Mellon
2) Main Course at Hair Of The Dog
3) Dessert at Just Desserts (there is one on Yonge St)
4) Drinks at Slack Alice or Looking Glass or maybe even Tango's.

So, do the houses/apartments that each of the stages in the "progress" go to need to be in walking distance? trolley distance? Sounds like this could be quite fun!

I'd like to see the Progressive Dinner event take part in our members homes.

For me, and I am sure there are others, January can be a cash-strapped month, and the thought of partaking in restaurant hopping to four different places could really strain the January budget.

Besides, we have some culinary queens and kings on the list ( yoo hoo, Tourboi ! ) that may be able to dazzle us with their skills.

I wonder if we find four host homes, that we could also chip in for each of the courses. ( a sign up sheet would be valuable as well as a check list of members food allergies )

Just me, with my brain ticking a mile a minute at the moment ( just got back from having an espresso with the boi, tee hee )

Well, I was thinking a pot-luck style progressive dinner, and the reason I suggested homes is for the same cash-strapped-January reason you had Kit. Great minds think a like and all that! ;)

And Andy - I think we should call all of the streetcars, "trolleys" because it sounds so cute! (a) When I first moved to Toronto, we had trolleys in addition to the streetcars, buses and trains...in fact, taking the trolley on Dupont Street was one of my special joys...course, I'm probably dating myself here, and should shut up! :D

So - if people would like to sign up for this - we're waiting....;)

Well, if we have a whole whack of people who can't make it on the 24th, we can do it on the 17th, but that's not very much time to plan. We can't do it on the 31st, unfortunately...

As Rugged and Satin won't be able to make it on any weekend night, this month, it's just Jewels & Kaylar who can't make it so far...

Of course, we haven't HEARD from anyone else yet... :hrmph: except that the ever allusive Raistlin will be showing up! :D

Andyup, I would say that a nice house crowd is 12 - 18 people. Twenty to thirty and it gets crowded, most city homes aren't made for large crowds. Are you bringing up some Yankee Butches with ya ???

Let's wait and see what Tourboi and the Missus are up that weekend....haven't seen them on the lists yet today, but sure they will try to make the event. Right you two ?

Now Ani might be heading into town, she has a Butch pal in London that I heard she might bring along to our next function.

And there's a boi in St Catherines that thought hy might join in on some fun.

And I've heard of a boi moving from Vancouver to Ottawa and was looking for BF social events. Hy might start coming to TO once hy's in our province.

Jewels & Satin: As for February, we ( as in Marco and myself )would like to host a "coffee & dessert" potluck......hopefully February 21st. This is tentative...will announce for sure after the Progressive Dinner.

And at our January 24th event.....we will be able to celebrate three boi birthdays.....Tourboi, Marco and a newbie, Jones ( from FAB ) All those Aquarians......woo hoo !

Can we line up the femmes for some paddywhacks ???? ;)

Let's provide two options for the FAB BF'ers in February.
Coffee & dessert here in suburbia for those that have cars ( it's only 15 km from the village ) and the bowling for butches event.
What date did you have in mind for that one....I know coupled BF'ers may be doing their own thing on the 14th (l)

I am working on that special Butch event, I think a spring fling event would dazzle all the single femmes, now don't you ???

As for Kit and her reign as Goddess of our FAB group, let's all respect her decision and right to her recent statement. If everyone was privy to the knowledge that she holds, I'm sure there would be many who support Kit ( and I've already heard amongst the group some chilly remarks, tsk tsk )

If I remember correctly, I was not the only one involved in this. Never knew so many people could play god and feel they have the right to pass judgement on ONE person's word. Whatever...

Ok......the first thing I would want to say here is that Rugged and i were under the impression that this was a group open to ALL people who are active members of B-F. We were not aware the the groups membership was subject to one person's choice. Yes Kitten you have done a wonderful job of arranging all our get togethers....but that does not give you or any one of us the right to decide who should or shouldn't be part of an open group. That decision should also be made as a group.

Rugged and i are well aware of the recent events between the two women involved here and some of you seem to be making choices or taking sides based on ONE of the womens side of the story. There are things that went on that none of you are aware of unless you heard if from one side only. It is therefore not fair to assume that only one person was wronged here. Rugged and i both feel that in any group there are eventually going to be personality conflicts......arguments....or other issues. Is this how these issues will all be dealt with?? Just arbitrarily banning anyone who upsets us?? What happend between Kitten and Victoria is their issue and none of us has the right to interfere with that.......just as Rugged and i feel Kitten doesn't have the right to just ban Victoria. These are open get togethers, held in public places. We have tried very hard not to take sides in this matter, but neither of us feels like we should have someone else dictate to us who we can and cannot socialize with. There are always many people at these gatherings and no reason why Kitten or Victoria could spend time with those in the group that they are comfortable with. This should not have become a group issue at all.

Sorry all. This will be my last post with regard to this now, getting very old, subject. In my defence, I *have* tried to PM VB, but she hasn't responded, and has chosen instead to make this public.

VB, the other party has had enough common sense and basic humanity to voluntarily withdraw. Which is why they are not participating in this thread or any other that I frequent.

As for my "fan club".... well, they're called "friends", and they're being loyal, supportive, and caring. And I am deeply appreciative of it.

Satin, I know that you have recently become friends with VB, and I appreciate how difficult this must be for you and Rugged. (May I say as an aside, that I have zero issues with you and Rugged participating if that's what you choose to do).

FAB EveningsTO is a social group that I started. Jewels and I came up with the the plan for it long before I even met any of the parties involved. I have posted simple rules of conduct for those who want to play in the group (at FABeveningsTO). VB has not adhered to the rules of conduct. Like anyone else who does not adhere to those rules, I've asked her to leave the group. Frankly, I'm at a loss to understand why she would WANT to participate in the group, or why she would want to take this public.

As for people taking sides: well, there aren't "two sides" to this story. I don't have a "side".

I was conducting my life, minding my own business, being the best "Kit" I know how to be; when my life (and, I might add, that of my children) was suddenly, as in, without warning, turned upside down by the purposeful and malicious actions of the other parties involved. I did what any sensible person would do under those circumstances and asked first one of the parties, and now the other, to please refrain from imposing themselves upon me any longer. If this request seems unreasonable, I am willing to be seen as unreasonable.

If you Satin, or anyone else, would like to discuss this further, please contact me via pm or email (which is listed in my profile). This does not need to be, and SHOULD not be public any longer.

Again, my apologies to the rest of the group.

As for Ophilia, we were exchanging emails for a while and she bought one of my New Years tickets from me (although I was going to give it to her) she even said she would be coming to the next Anime showing at UoT and then she just dissappeared. I'm getting rather worried. I know she was alittle depressed but I thought she was cheering up abit after the anime showing in December. She was talking to a few people there. I'm wondering if I scard her off or something. She looks so lost all the time. *sighs* I really, really hope she is alright but she has not replyed to my last email and I'm hoping she is just lost in her studies. This is her last year.

Ok for me I have no problems cooking (just dont do seafood girls and boi's) makes me sick.....ok? But I dont cook so bad but love to do deserts (there ya go Kit Kat) So I can do a few deserts how ever our house at this time is not available! Why its under construction and any get togethers here wont be till the nice warm spring/summer weather, so I am sorry about this on my part, but I have no problems doing some finger foods and deserts. Love to do the cheese cakes and I make a wicked home made apple/blueberry pie (hungry yet Kitten or Kit Kat? woo hoo) I was thinkin of a milk chocolate cheese cake and or a white chocolate cheesecake drowneded in blue berries or strawberries or what ever! Hi Everyone! This is my very first post here on B-F.com My husband (Cal) and I live in Toronto and are excited about finding out about this group!

Here is a little bit about us.....

Cal: Stone Butch, Canadian, Cal is hys chosen name who just told me hy "loves being married to this very high maintenance femme"

MountainStar: High Femme, American, (new permanent resident), travels way too much for business, goes by "star" or "Daddi's grrl"..lol

I travel all the time...and so it's been hard to meet other butches and femmes. We are really looking forward to getting to know everyone and guess what? Star (that be me) LOVES to cook and entertain! We have a roomy apartment in the North Yorkish area...so count me in!

Ohhhhh....if I might also ask....Cal has to work for both of these events.....soooooo....is it okay if I come by myself? And......are you still looking for host homes for February?

Oh oh oh! I forgot something! Where we live has a party room if we need it for larger gatherings....we only need to post a deposit....and it has a full kitchen. Yay!

I am so excited! So grrls....when are we going to do power shopping? I have been dying for some femme companionship at the mall....Cal is awesome and a wonderful guy....but hy does not care too much for shopping....plus hy says I am scary...lol

Howdy folks! Thought I'd better jump on in also even though my honey has already done the intro's for us (with my approval of course...lol).

It's great to finally see other Butches and Femmes here in the TO area and I have to tell you....we've been waiting a long time to find such a group.

As my babe said....she just loves to entertain and we certainly have the room/facility for it. I'm looking forward to a weekend that there is a gathering that I'll actually be off work and able to go. I do get two weekends off a month so that shouldn't be too much of a problem.

Shopping....OMG....it will be so good for her to have a femme sister to go shopping with. I don't even mind tagging along....all she has to do is give a shout on the cell and I'll come and carry those parcels...lol. While waiting though I think you'll probably find me at the nearest coffee shop or down at Pegasus playing some NTN! (she wasn't kidding when she said she scared me when she we've gone shopping together...lol).

Anyway....it's good to find this group and here's hoping you are all well....and we're looking forward to meeting you all.

There is another thread in here with the email addy...and I did write up a letter using that hyperlink....but I didn't send it as I don't know if the group is a private one or one that just anyone can write to. Star and I are both pretty good at searching out sites on the web....but I think in this case we're going to need a hint or two as to where to find it in the listings...lol.

We got the e-mail to confirm our subscription, which we did....But, when we go and check, it says our membership is still pending authorization, (or something like that)!!
Has anyone else experienced this? How long does it take before you are on the list?

Ok all did you guys have fun in this winter storm today? I didnt really have any concerns but, how I hate hate hate winter! Anyways I just wanted to liven up this thread a bit. .....This winter storm that blew through here gave me the night off!!! I was all ready showered and dressed at 4:30 and in the process of making a lunch when the call came in. Yep....they shut the plant down for the shift!! WoooHooo...nothing better in the work-a-day life of being paid for a snow day and not having to go in for another of those 12 hours!! What I don't get though is the why....hmmm....I know we've had worse storms then this. I also know from looking online that this one was not going to last the night like some have. Ahhhh well....I'm sure not complaining....just one less of a 5 night stint and right smack in the middle makes me one very happy butch!

Kat - you can bring "chips or something" lol - just make sure you bring LOTS! Actually - several bags of different flavoured chips, (Crunchits, Fritos, ripples etc. ) would be great - especially if you bring it with a dip - you were saying on the FAB list that you don't cook so just get a container of sour cream and put in a vegetable soup mix - instant dip!

There's a sign up sheet at the FAB evenings website (for those who have joined the group) - just click on "database", and you can add your name, who and what you're bringing, and any allergies that you may have.

I'll update it with the names of folks who post here who aren't part of the group as well - that way there'll be a centralised list of who's bringing what. :)

As for the rest of you - there are number of people who don't participate on the list or here who have signed up for the potluck - so we're going to have a very big turn-out this Saturday for my tiny little apartment. Those of you who have easily transportable folding type chairs - please bring them, or we'll be dining "Japanese" style. lol

Also, apparently, many chickens will be killed in support of this event. lol If you are a vegetarian, be warned that the only thing other than dessert that doesn't contain some kind of chicken is the vegetarian chicken-I-mean-chili that I'll be making. Please advise if you are a vegetarian, and we'll see what we can do.

I've had a chance to look at the get together's up until the end of May....and well....what can I say but....damn!!!

Just because of the way my work schedule is I'll be working each and every weekend and won't have a chance to meet up with any of the gang for the TO group :s

If anyone want's to get together any of the two first weekends of a month let me know....otherwise....I guess Star and I will meet you all Pride weekend in June when we've taken vacation time!

Hi Everyone!

Have fun at Kitkat and Marco's on Saturday night. I will not be able to make it this time around. A previous theatre engagement is keeping me busy in London.

I will be waiting for pics to be posted on Sunday!

Kindergarten has been treating me well. But it was a seriously long week this one through. I can feel the spring fever hitting, and all I have to say is-bring it on!

I am looking forward to seeing most of you in March! Well all of you whom I will see in March-I can't wait! Not that there are some of you that I don't want to see....geez!!! :P

Marco and I thank all of you that came for the coffee & dessert nite. It was a wonderful full house of FABulous butches and femmes. :)

Thanks to all that brought all the delicious, scrumptious, sugary, sweet, divine treats. So much to choose from. A bit of this and a bit of that.

We were so set to go, especially since we were able to get your address, but it was just so nasty down here. Pure ice...coming home from work I slid right through the intersection by my house. Wasn't too sure what it was like up your way, but I know my girl that was supposed to be in at 5 called from Niagara and said that she would be late on account of the roads. I was still hemmin' and hawin' at 7 when it cleared up a bit, thinking we could be there by 8:30 or so....

oh well...came home and decorated for my sons 7th birthday party today(^) We are going to surprise him with a clown to entertain everyone! We're so excited! I just hope his little 4 year old brother isn't freaked out:s

Tour & Ang: been quiet lately...we'll need to discuss camping arrangements! I'm psyched!

Everyone: Maybe we could have a get together in Fort Dreary sometime in the summer? You guys could all head down to our neck of the woods and we could have a barbeque and head over to the states? About 10 minutes away from our house is Buffalo's gay community with some good bars and dancing...whaddya say huh?

Sounds like a good time was had by all! Sorry I missed it.

No my birthday is NEVER a secret! I love celebrating it! And stretch out the festivities, this year over 2 weekends, since my friends in London won't be in TO for my birthday. It is also March Break so I will be in fine form, well rested and stress-free!

thanks for the invitation to the party. i had a great time and will definitely stay longer next time. it was great meeting you for sure.

and since my friends have insisted that i DO stay in the auction, i have succombed to the peer pressure and will be there. i also spoke with a danforth spa and they are giving me a GREAT deal on a spa package for my date offering: one hour facial, eye lifting treatment, 1 hr aromatherapy body massage, spa manicure & pedicure for a total of about 5 hours of body pampering.

so if you know any femmes (or anyone with a lot of dough for Fife House) who would be interested in that, ensure they are at the auction!

Thanks Tiger, fun was had by all at the party, and all I can say is "Man I'm glad that's over!" The highlight of the party is when Zach (4) was saying something about his girlfriend, and Chris names off his girlfriend and then says...."and Kyle is my boyfriend!" lol...now he said this in front of his straight laced father and his very conventional grandparents. That part of the family knows about Lisa and I, but they "pretend" that we are just friends. The relationship is going on 4 years now...I can't complain really they are awesome to the children and have helped me out many many times. Anyway after he said this there was this curtain of silence and their father was like..."ugh he is a boy...and he is your friend...but that's all..."
I was laughing thinking that's my boy!!
I think Lisa was dancing...lol

At least it's over for another 6 months until the little guy turns 5!
